Hi I'm Jan

I'm a wife, mom, nana, business owner... and a Mormon.

About Me

I met my husband on the only blind date I went on... now I am a mother of 5... 3 boys and 2 girls. Being a mother has been my greatest joy... at least that was the case until I became a grandmother, or Nana as my 4 grandbabies call me! I grew up skiing and swimming and still love the out of doors. Infact, I rather be weeding in the garden than cleaning the house... but truth be known I don't do either often enough. Mostly because I'm playing with those grandkids!

Why I am a Mormon

Well, I was born into the Mormon faith. I know... seems like the easy way. But I "became" a Mormon when I found my own testimony. I knew at a very young age that the Book of Mormon was true. I think I was in 9th grade and caught a pretty bad case of the chicken poxes from my baby brother. After watching tv for days and being totally bored I picked up the Book of Mormon...ok, it was homework for Seminary...but I still started to read. I couldn't put it down. I read for 8-10 hours a day for the following week. I remember sitting on that black and white plaid couch all day long with the only interruption being my mom bringing me breakfast, lunch and dinner. Truths be known, I probably could have gone back to school a few days earlier but I wanted to finish that book. The whole week I read I felt a warm, comforted feeling and had this amazing desire to read on. When I got the end I just sat there hugging that blue paper back copy and wept...and wept...and wept. There was no denying the book spoke of truth.

How I live my faith

I just keep trying each day... to be a kinder, more loving person, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. My husband and I are Gospel Doctrine teachers in our ward...but that's a Sunday job. I believe "living my faith" is a daily task...for me that means trying to help whomever may need it and showing my love for all.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

As a parent, a mother... I love my youngest child just as much as I love my oldest child. I give him just as much, if not more love and direction as I did with my older children. I believe in a loving Heavenly Father. Keywords here... loving Father, He is our parent and He loves us... His children, just as much today as He did those in the time of Moses. Why would a loving Father not be in touch with today’s world and provide us a prophet as he did in Moses time? Aren't we in need of love and direction from our Father today? Probably as much if not more that in Moses time with all the temptations of today’s world! So, YES... without any question I believe my loving Father in heaven has given me the same help and guidance he gave those of old. We do have a living, loving prophet that walks this earth just as Moses did. Today’s prophet is here to guide and teach us just as Moses did. He is in contact with our Father just as Moses was. What a comfort it is to me... to know my Heavenly Father loves me and hasn't left me alone on this earth. Show more Show less
