Hi I'm Mikey

I am a missionary in Oklahoma. I like Sports. I try to make others laugh but I'm not good at it. And I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am currently serving a 2 year mission in Oklahoma. I was born in Colorado and have lived most of my life in Utah. I was raised in the church. I am the youngest member in my family, so I get all of the sweet hookups that come with being the youngest. I really enjoy playing basketball and a fun game of tennis with my friends. I appreciate good jokes when appropriate. And most importantly, I love my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a member of the church and for a long time just did what I was expected to do by my family. I believe I always knew it was true but I just wasn't aware of it. It wasn't until my older brother left on his mission that I decided to put a little bit more effort on my part to read the Book of Mormon and then to pray and ask Heavenly Father if the Book of Mormon was true. My answer did not come all at once, but it did come over time. I have only had my testimony strengthened since then. I now know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, that Joseph Smith was a Prophet and that Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of the world and his church has been restored here on Earth in these days. Sharing the gospel with others while on my mission has shown me all the blessings that has come from living the gospel and has strengthened my testimony even more in the Book of Mormon and in Christ's gospel and the blessings it can bring to us as individuals and our families.

How I live my faith

Since I am currently a missionary, I spend all of my time sharing the gospel with others. We spend all day teaching those who may not be familiar with the gospel and tell them the blessings that come from living it. It is a very rewarding experience for both those we are teaching and us. While serving a mission I have learned alot about what I should do when I go home at the end of these 2 years. It has helped me better understand what is truly important in this life and what I need to do to have a happy and blessed life.

Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

When Jesus Christ was here on eath he called 12 Apostles and gave them the Priesthood, the power and authority to act in God's name. This gave the Apostles the power and authority to heal the sick, minister to the people, and to perform baptisms and give them the gift of the Holy Ghost. After Jesus Christ had ascended to Heaven, and Judas was no longer part of the Twelve, the 11 Apostles left came together to choose a replacement for Judas. You can read in Acts chapter 1 where it mentions how they narrowed the choice down to two men and only chose one of them. The church which Jesus Christ had established was meant to continue on, but due to the persecution at the time eventually the church fell. When God chose Joseph Smith to restore that same church that Jesus Christ created, that included the same structure, including the Apostles.  Show more Show less
