Hi I'm Truman

From surf shorts and slippers to white shirts and ties--I am a missionary, and I'm a mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in the middle of the sea. I'm the 7th of 9 kids, and an uncle to 20, soon to be 21, nieces and nephews. I'd like to say that I'm well rounded. I did football, wrestling, basketball, track and field, piano, and choir growing up. Kickin' it with the fam' at the beach is where it's at. Sushi with Aloha Soyu is like manna from Heaven. Chinese food---my fav. Right now I'm a missionary and I'm totally proud of it. To me, church and family's what matters most. My name is Truman, and I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a Mormon is awesome--not even kidding. It's a way of life centered on Christ that provides true happiness and peace. And it's fun! Families are HUGE to Mormons and I love that. I've seen firsthand what the Gospel of Jesus Christ can do for families, and let me tell you---it's no small thing. When you become a Mormon, you become a member of a GIGANTIC worldwide family. Whether you're a local boy from Hawaii, or a Japanese businessman lost in the busy streets of Tokyo, you can rest assured that someone from the church family will be there if you need them. Living the Mormon way blesses you with safety and protection in a world full of temptation, turmoil, and confusion. I love being a Mormon. I'm happy living this way, I'm safe, I'm blessed, and my sights are ever fixed on the Savior.

How I live my faith

Well, right now I'm a missionary! For about the past 2 years I've been inviting people to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through Faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, Repentance, Baptism, Receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost, and Enduring to the end. Being a missionary isn't easy, considering the constant rejection that comes day in and day out, and the fact that you're away from home, family, friends, and all that's familiar to you, but it's all worth it because of how much the message I bear blesses individuals and families. There's nothing like witnessing firsthand the transformation that takes place in those that choose to accept the message of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I am so grateful that I chose to serve a mission, and I feel so blessed to be apart of this great work.

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Our firm belief that God is just and fair is so expressed in the vicarious work that we do in behalf of the dead. Those that didn't get a chance to hear and accept the gospel of Jesus Christ in this life, for whatever reason, will get that chance in the Spirit World. Thus, if one in the Spirit World wants to accept the gospel of Jesus Christ, which includes baptism by water and the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost, someone here on earth can stand as proxy for that individual, making the acceptance possible and complete.
