Hi I'm Stephen

I enjoy playing sports in the heat of AZ. I like hanging out with friends and family, and love my Mom. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Arizona and love it. I'm serving as a full-time missionary in Minnesota and can't think of a better activity I could participate in for 2 years. I will soon be a student and hope to excel. I plan on attending business school, starting a family, and serving in the Church. I am a hardworker and self-motivated. I love watching and playing sports, especially ping pong, in which I dominate.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a strong Mormon family that taught me the principles of Christ's gospel. For most of my life, I never really questioned the truthfulness of the Mormon Church. But at some point I, as well as everyone else should, sought for the truth, found it, and truly converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Whenever we deal with anything spiritual, we cannot find "proof." There is nothing tangible. I am a very analytical guy and sometimes that can be hard for me. But one of my favorite things about the Mormon Church is that we are constantly asked to test everything, whether it be one principle of the gospel or the entire church. I've tested the different pieces of the restored gospel and I know each one to be true. It all makes perfect sense to me logically as I've studied the scriptures Bible and Book of Mormon, history, and the doctrine of other faiths. But more importantly, I know by prayer and my own personal experiences with the Holy Ghost that the Mormon Church is true. Everything in the end is black and white with this church - either the Book of Mormon is true or it isn't. If it is, Joseph Smith was and is a prophet of God, President Monson is the prophet today, the Mormon Church is the only true and living church of Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of the world. If it isn't, we are just a nice group of people with some great values. I know the Book of Mormon is true so everything else comes easily. I want to be the best person I can be and live a life full of purpose and joy that will lead me to the Savior. I know this is the only place that will give me all of that and more. There is much truth out there that is a blessing to many people in other faiths, but I know that the fulness of the truth is contained here, and the blessings of that truth are limitless.

How I live my faith

Although I didn't always appreciate all the blessings of the Mormon Church as a teenager, over the past couple years I've not only gained a strong testimony, but have seen the blessings that come from both having and acting on that testimony. Currently I am a missionary who has the privilege of sharing the gospel with others. I get to go out every day and talk to everybody about different gospel topics that I know can be blessings in their lives. When people allow me to teach them in their home, I have the opportunity to share what I know to be true. I love more than anything else to see these people come to that same knowledge, and to see that knowledge bring them incredible happiness. We live the gospel by faith, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end by keeping the promises we've made to our Heavenly Father. I help people with each of those steps, and they help me to live the gospel myself. Just because I've been baptized does not mean I've reached the end of the road. I know I have many more important callings in life to fulfill whether temporal or spiritual, and can't wait to see where the Lord takes me in the future. I know that as I live the teachings of Jesus Christ, I will gain the most out of life and will be happy no matter what trials lie ahead.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Missionaries go out each day and share the gospel. They are not the smartest young men or women in the world. They are not highly trained in persuasion techniques. They may not be the most personable or charismatic. They simply share what they know, and invite you to find out for yourself if what they've taught is true. I believe that if there is a God, and He created you, He would have some kind of purpose for you since He created you in the first place. If there is a purpose for us, I believe He would allow us to know it and not just walk around blind. The missionaries teach you the basic doctrine of the Mormon Church and how it can apply to you. The way you can know for yourself if it is right is simply to act on it. If they teach of the Book of Mormon, read it and pray about it. There is no other way to find out if it's true. If they teach that we should avoid partaking in certain substances, give those substances up and see how your life changes. I know it will. I know that if you act on what the missionaries teach, and are sincere in your quest to find the truth, the Lord will reveal the truth to you. That truth is the doctrine of the Mormon Church, and everybody I've taught as a missionary who has acted on this challenge has gained a testimony of this truth.  Show more Show less
