Hi I'm Zach

I'm a thirteenth generation Floridian, a current Peace Corps volunteer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a son, brother, husband, skateboarder, surfer, musician, and a disciple of Jesus Christ. I was born and raised in Florida. I served as a missionary for two years in Las Vegas. I met my wife in a small town in Idaho. We both studied Peace & Conflict Transformation at BYU-Hawaii. And we are currently serving as youth development volunteers for the United States Peace Corps in Morocco.

Why I am a Mormon

When I turned 18 I packed up my car, kissed my mom goodbye, and moved out of my parents house. I was looking for freedom, happiness, and fulfillment. I searched down all the wrong alleys and found only heartache, sorrow, and darkness.  It eventually took losing control of my car at 80mph to wake me up from a spiritual sleep. I recognized that my car wreck was a metaphor for how I was living my life. I had no regard for my safety, was making poor decisions, and did not have control of my life. That realization as well as the deep sense of gratitude for being alive prompted me to reconnect with God. Prayer lead to sincere repentance which lead to renewing a promise I had made when I was baptized years prior, to follow Jesus Christ. Renewing and strengthening my relationship with my Father in Heaven and His Son Jesus Christ granted me the freedom, happiness, and fulfillment I had been searching for all along.

How I live my faith

A prophet from the Book of Mormon best describes how I seek to live my faith. He states, "Yea, and from that time even until now, I have labored without ceasing, that I might bring souls unto repentance that I might bring them to taste of the exceeding joy of which I did taste that they might also be born of God, and be filled with the Holy Ghost". I have tasted of great joy and I now seek to help others taste of this joy by being mindful of the needs of those around me, living the principles and teachings of Jesus Christ on a daily basis, and sharing my testimony of Jesus Christ.
