Hi I'm Melanie

I am a dairy mans daughter. I love my family. I want to make a good difference in others lives. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of five children. I love to watch things grow and enjoy growing a garden except the weeding part. I have found out that I love to fix things that are broken, and fix up our home. I have learned to love and appreciate my husband more while we are trying to make our basement a nicer place to be. I like to read and I sing in a choir. Whenever I can I like to dance with my husband and my favorite time is right after we watch a movie and the credits are rolling.

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a disciple of Christ because the more I learn about his gospel the more I realize that everything he has commanded us to do will lead us to happiness. When I study the scriptures and pray I can feel the Holy Ghost testifying to my spirit that the teachings I am learning about are true. I also continue to be a Mormon because as I attend my Sunday meetings and listen to our modern day prophet I am able to continue to feel those feelings of love and warmth that we read in the scriptures testify of truth. When my life becomes scary or uncertain I always know that I can turn to my relationship with Christ through prayer, scriptures, or listening to his prophets to gain the insight and direction I need to improve my life. I am boosted up by the testimonies I hear of others when I attend church and it helps me see my own struggles in a new light. Being a Mormon has taught me how to find that peace that I need.

How I live my faith

I am currently a teacher to the youth ages 14-16 in our church. I teach them on Sundays and then every Wednesday night we have a fun activity or service project to help us pull together as a group and grow spiritually. I love hearing their testimonies and seeing them become leaders in the community and standing up for what is right and good. I also am a visiting teacher which means I go and meet with other women in their homes and check on them and bring them a gospel centered message to uplift them. This has helped me grow very close to several women and even though I am going to lift and strengthen them they always seem to lift me as well. In my home I try to teach my children by holding family home evening with them on Monday nights. This is a fun time when we sing songs, play games, eat treats and have a gospel message and discuss what we believe and why we believe it. It really brings us closer together. We also try to read the scriptures as a family every day for a little while. We have small children so it is not very long but it seems to bring the spirit of Christ into our home very strongly.

What is the Law of Chastity?

Melanie
We promise to keep our bodies sacred and also to guard the ability to create children by only having sexual relationships with those we are legally and lawfully married to. As a precursor to the law of Chastity we encourage our children to dress modestly and be respectful of their bodies by not marking them tattooing, excessive piercings etc.. We also encourage our children to not date until the age of 16 and even then to group date with other couples and not pair off until they are of an age when they are looking for a marriage partner.
