Hi I'm Melanie

I grew up in Nevada. I'm kind of a private person. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife, a mother and a grandma. I also work full time as a medical biller. I am married to my friend. We enjoy spending time together talking, eating, listening to music--all kinds, and playing Scrabble on our iPhones. I have 4 kids. My 2 oldest are married and I have 2 grandkids. I have a son on a mission and one in highschool. Being a mother is the most important thing I have done in life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was fortunate enough to have parents who taught me the gospel of Jesus Christ and set an example of how to live it from the time I was little. I have always believed the things they taught me were true. Many times in my life when I was younger and throughout my life I have felt the Holy Spirit testify to me that the gospel of Jesus Christ as taught to me by my parents is true. I know that Jesus Christ is God's son and atoned for my sins. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and testifies of Christ. I know that we have a living prophet who leads the church as guided by the Lord. I testify that the prophet Jospeph Smith was the instument God used to bring His church back to the earth. I have not lived a perfect life by any means. I have been married twice and made plenty of mistakes throughout my life. I continue to stay with the church because it is the only thing that makes sense out of this existence. There have been times in my life when I have been frustrated and discouraged and thought of trying a different way of life, and then like Peter, Christ's disciple of old, I ask, ". . Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life." The teachings of the church make sense and bring happiness. In the temple, I feel real, like I am home. There is no other way for me.

How I live my faith

I go to church each Sunday. My favorite part is Sacrament Meeting where I sit in the congregation with my husband and son and take the sacrament and think about the Savior. Then I get to play the piano for the children to sing in primary. I also visit 2 ladies on a monthly basis and bring them a small message and help them in other ways as needed.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Yes! There is a prophet alive today and boy am I glad. There is so much information out there in our world today, we need a prophet more than ever to lead us and teach us and guide us and warn us of danger. It is such blessing to be able to have the words of the Lord to us right now. The Bible and other scripture is marvelous, but it is an additional blessing to have the Lord address current issues through his prophet. Show more Show less
