Hi I'm Brent Bishop

I am a husband and dad from California. I teach kids for a living. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of three and married to the love of my life. I am an educator in California and am working to start a charter school in my hometown. I love sports and reading and work hard every day to do what is right. I have struggles like everyone does, but I know where I came from and where I want to be after I leave this life. That knowledge helps me to keep going during the rough days.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have felt a powerful impression, over and over throughout my life telling me that I am in the right place. I love the joy I get from serving others and I cannot imagine living without the knowledge that God loves me. It took me a long time to gain my own belief in the Church, but once I gained that personal conviction, I could not deny it and am grateful that the Lord blessed me with it. Everyone has hard things in their life, but the Church helps me to understand why they happen and what I can learn from them. We do not experience trials because God does not love us. In fact, I have learned that the hardest things in life are meant to teach us the greatest lessons, and if we rely on Him to help us, we can feel His love for us. I know God lives and loves me. I know His Son, Jesus Christ suffered for all of us so that wen can bring our broken hearts to Him and be healed of our pain and sadness.

How I live my faith

First, I am far from perfect. I try to be kind to others and give service whenever I can, but I make a thousand mistakes every day. Reading the Book of Mormon and the Bible help me to focus on being a better person and overcome my weaknesses. To me, life is a time to develop our talents and overcome our imperfections, which can only be done with the help of Christ. I try to love my kids and be good to them. I try to love my wife and enjoy being with her. I live every day looking forward to the time when I can return to the presence of my Father in Heaven with my family. I have chosen to be an educator because I see the difficulties that people deal with and I want to help make their lives a little bit easier or more worthwhile. I enjoy teaching young people and seeing their successes. Hopefully, I can be a good example to them and motivate them to reach their potential, but I learn more from them than I could ever teach to them. Finally, I just try to listen to the voice of the Spirit of God and follow what I hear. I know I miss it sometimes, but when I feel His Spirit leading me, there is no sweeter feeling in the world, and that is what I live for.
