Hi I'm Dave

I'm a math teacher, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just graduated from college with a degree in Math Education, and a minor in Political Science. I have just accepted a job to work as a math teacher at a public High School, but am also considering law school. I come from a big family. I have 5 brothers and sisters, and I love them all very much. My parents have been a great influence in my life they are such a blessing in my life. There is a lot that I enjoy doing in my free time. I play basketball and golf among other sports. I enjoy playing the piano, singing, drawing, reading, hanging out with friends, and listening to music. Some of my favorite books are "The Chosen" by Chaim Potok and "East of Eden" by John Steinbeck. Some of my favorite singers/bands Counting Crows, R.E.M. and the Flaming Lips. I served an LDS mission in Cambodia for two years, and learned a lot about their history and culture. I plan to travel a lot throughout my life and experience many other cultures.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon all my life. My parents are members and my grandparents are members. However, none of them are the reason that I have decided to continue being a Mormon. I had to make that decision myself. There was a time in my life where I came across a proverbial fork in the road and had to decide whether or not I really knew what I had been practicing all my life was true. I prayed a lot I asked for guidance from my Heavenly Father. He answered my prayers. I have felt His love for me in a very personal and profound way. Another reason I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints is that I have also had experiences in my life that have affirmed that Jesus Christ is the Savior of all mankind I am a Mormon because I know that it is the through Christ's Church and His power that we can make covenants and promises with our Heavenly Father to follow Him and follow our Saviors example. Through these covenants I hope to be able to live with our Heavenly Father again someday. There are many other reasons I am a Mormon, but these are some of the strongest reasons I have. I am so thankful to the Lord for the opportunity I have of being a member of His Church. It has made my life so much better. As I have lived His gospel I have seen the blessings in my life. I am so grateful for the sacrifice Christ has made for me in taking upon Himself my burdens and sins. I am likewise grateful for His resurrection and the opportunity we have to live again.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through constantly trying to become more like our Savior. I have a lot to work on, but as I have faith in the Lord and try to apply His atonement to my life I can repent and change myself to become more like Him. There are opportunities everyday to follow, serve, and worship Him. I have been able to create and enrich my personal relationship with the Lord through studying His word, praying daily, and following His example. There is so much to learn from both the Bible and The Book of Mormon that can help us to follow the Savior. As I learn and develop I find new things that I can do, through the atonement of our Savior, to improve and grow.
