Hi I'm Sierra

I love warm rain and sunny days. I'm a sister, a daughter, a writer, and a Husker football fan. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a busy person full of energy and good times. I don't feel the emotion "awkward" and I don't get embarrassed easily. My favorite chill place is the institute here on campus. I'm double majoring in Spanish and Journalism so I keep myself pretty busy with that. In high school I played volleyball, basketball, softball, ran track, and did cheerleading. Cheer was my favorite! I also was involved in one-act, speech, band, and choir. Now that I'm in college I play sand volleyball and broomball and am in an A Capella group. I am the oldest of five kids and have an amazing family. I LOVE Life. laughing. dancing. rain. lightning. music. pictures. snowflakes. fireplaces. writing. disney. acting. spanish. cheer. sisters. brother. sports. quotes. fruit. smiles. letters. colors. my missionary. Husker football.

Why I am a Mormon

I have never had a lighting strike answer or heard a thundering voice. I was born and raised in the church. I have the most incredible parents who have taught me to live the gospel confidently and never be afraid to stand up for what I believe. As a result of this, I have a deep rooted and unwavering testimony that the church is true. I have never doubted that. Not only is it true, but it also offers a tremendous support system and I don't know where I would be without it, I love it. I am proud to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am from a super small town so, until my junior year, I was the only LDS student in my high school and after that the only other one was my younger sister. Even though my beliefs were often different from everyone else's, I have never been afraid to stand up for them even if it meant I would be standing alone. Now that I'm in college I still am usually the only member in my classes, but i don't feel alone at all! I am a member of the Singles Ward and I love it! There is so much support and strength and friendship and I have never been more grateful for the church and all the wonderful people in it. I have been president for different groups of young women in the church and now that I am older I am in another group with women over 18. I've only been in this group for about 6 months but I absolutely love it and now I'm in somewhat of a leadership position for it. I was a little surprised at first since I don't know as much as I would like to about this organization yet, but I'm so grateful for this chance to learn and grow and I know Heavenly Father has called me into this position for a reason. One of my favorite things to do is go and teach with the sister missionaries. I get very excited when we are teaching new people and I can not only watch those we teach grow in the gospel but I am also growing myself. There's is always more to learn in the Lord's church.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Sierra
There are so many blessings available to those who read the scriptures! Not only do we learn more about the works of our Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ, but we also gain a closer stronger relationship with them when we read. In my life, I have noticed a huge difference between when I am regularly reading the scriptures and when I am not. When I do read them I feel the spirit more often, am comforted more in times when I may struggle, and realize more the love which my Heavenly Father has for me. It seems that I learn something new each time I read the scriptures and it's always exactly what I need to hear at that point in time. I've also noticed that my days go smoother and I am much happier and more confident when I have been reading my scriptures and saying my prayers. Why? Because I am growing closer to Christ and I can feel that extra strength and love which we all so desperately need. Show more Show less
