Hi I'm Karlee

I'm a wife. I'm a mother. I'm a full-time English student. I'm a future teacher. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hello, world! My name is Karlee, and I'm a full-time student studying English Secondary Education working towards my BA and then an MFA in Creative Writing. In addition to all the craziness that comes with student life, I'm also a wife and mother of two adorable girls. My husband and I were married five years ago. He was born with a congenital heart defect known as Tetralogy of Fallot. Having a spouse with a chronic illness is tough. Although he is a healthy person in general, his heart has caused us a fair share of worries. In 2010, he went through open heart surgery to replace a faulty valve. It was one of the most stressful--and spiritual--times of my life. As you can see, life can be pretty crazy with everything going on, but we have fun as much as possible. Our daughters learned early how to help take care of daddy when he needs an extra hand, and we have learned as a family to enjoy our time together as much as we can.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it brings so much peace to my life. We believe that family relationships are eternal--without this knowledge, it would be much more difficult to work through my spouse's medical problems. What happens to us physically in this life is not what is important. What happens to us spiritually is what will matter through eternity. Being Mormon helps me remember this fact, and helps me enjoy life right now--no matter what trials come our way.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving others as much as possible! Christ taught us that whenever we provide service for others, we are doing his work. Currently, I help organize activities for the women in our college ward. We have girls' nights, Zumba parties, share cooking ideas, etc. It's a lot of fun--we always have a blast!
