Hi I'm Darren

I was raised and live in California with my wife and children. I am a sales representative for a dental-products company.

About Me

I was born in 1967 and have lived in Southern California most of my life. I currently live on the Central Coast of California. I am married and have five children. The oldest two are now married and I have one grandchild. The picture displayed here is me with our youngest... My family means everything to me. To support them, I work in brokering professional practices and commercial real estate as well as in business development for an IP-licensing company. I enjoy my family, singing, playing guitar and surfing with my son.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, a saint--a latter-day saint, meaning a member of Christ's church and one of His disciples. Anciently, Paul referred to members of Christ's church as "Saints." It is the same today. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and that of all mankind. Christ came to earth during a time of widespread corruption and apostasy in His church and restored His gospel among the Jews. Within a century of His departure, the gospel in its purity had once again been corrupted and church leaders posessing His priesthood authority were persecuted and killed. This was the beginning of the great apostasy that had been prophesied by the prophet Amos (Amos 3:7) and would last for several centuries, spanning a time commonly referred to as the Dark Ages. Also, as prophesied, the gospel in its purest form would be restored again in the last days (Isaiah 2 2-4). Consistent with God's established pattern, He has called prophets in our time to direct the work of His church in preparing the earth for His return and preparing us to meet Him. He has restored His church and priesthood, which is His authority to teach His doctrines that offer us peace in this life and will lead us home to Him if we will embrace them. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because the Spirit of God has borne witness to me time and again that the message taught by the Lord's prophets of today as well as the prophets of old is the same and it is true. God loves His children and I know that I am one of them. He wants to bless us all and give us all that He has. All we have to do is reach with all that we have and His reaching will carry us through this life and lift us back to His presence.

How I live my faith

Over the years, I have been able serve in various capacities in the church. Of particular note is a two-year mission to Brazil more than 20 years ago. How time rushes by... Each service opportunity in the Church has brought new perspective and capacity to love and serve others. Recently I was called to be a leader of several congregations in and near my home town. While it is a busy calling with a good deal of responsibility, I love to serve God and I am having the time of my life! Additionally, my son and I visit families and individuals in the church and teach them about the gospel in their homes. Serving in the church has provided me an opportunity to give back to my community and has provided balance in my life. I believe that living one's faith requires daily adherence to its tenets. I strive daily to be like Jesus Christ, to put Him first in my life, follow his example in every way, love my family and love and serve others. Though it is a long shot, I am encouraged by Christ's invitation to us to be perfect, even as he is perfect. I believe He sees within each of us a great potential—hence the invitation.
