Hi I'm Dana

Event Planner, Contractor, Wife and Mother of two. My name is Dana and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and mother first, but when there is time for myself, I usually choose one of two things: being surrounded by nature and planning an event. I adore camping, hiking, cooking outdoors; basically just being surrounded by God's beautiful earth. I relish the time I get to spend quietly sitting in a green meadow, watching a sunrise, hearing the crashing of the ocean waves while wiggling my toes in the warm sand or simply falling asleep to the rain on a metal roof. When I am not with my family or camping, you can find me at my computer planning some event. And sometimes, I even get paid for it!! I love the planning and process work it takes to put on big events and small affairs alike. I adore thinking through each detail and bringing it to life. I am never more animated than when I am in the thralls of creating my next adventure.

Why I am a Mormon

I love my Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ and I show this love for him by aligning myself with His established church. I only have a few short years to live here in mortality and being Mormon helps me focus on eternal principles every day of my earth life. Being a Mormon brings me great comfort and peace knowing that I am a member of Christ's church re-organized in these letter-days. His truth as been restored and I am a part of that. I am on the path that will lead me back to Jesus Christ and my Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

My greatest joys comes from combining my two loves, the great outdoors and event planning. I am privileged each year to help plan a week long camping trip. My church congregation takes about 150 young women, ages 12 to 18, to a campground where some get to experience life in the backwoods for the first time. I have also been in charge of planning and executing pioneer re-enactments. We call this Pioneer Trek. Dressing in period authentic clothing and pulling handcarts filled with 500 pounds of gear across desert terrain might not sound like an exciting thing to do, but trust me, it is. To top all this off, I teach an early morning religion class. In the 2013-14 school year, I am teaching from the Book of Mormon to a class of 30 high school freshman. What a joy and delight these youth are in my life.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

I served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints while I was 21 years old. I taught the people in Argentina about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ on the earth today. Jesus Christ has done so much for me that I decided to dedicate 18 months of my life to full time service for His kingdom. I have never regretted that choice. Mormons proselyte so that others can come to know the truth about their Savior in a way that brings deeper meaning to why we are on earth and what we need to do to return to live with our loving Heavenly Father.
