Hi I'm Travis

I'm a son, husband, father, filmmaker, anthropologist and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small farming community in Southern Idaho and hated to travel as a child. I was the kid who was never ending in asking his parents "how much further?" Today my life is filled with travel, both real and imagined. My first real extended trip was a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints to the Navajo and Hopi Reservations in Northern Arizona and New Mexico. I gained a great love for my Navajo and Hopi brothers and sisters there and continue to travel among them today. I later travelled as an American Soldier to the Middle East and spent fifteen-months serving my country and the people of Iraq and Kuwait. I gained a great love for my Arab brothers and sisters and hope to continue to travel among them in the future. My travels since my military and religious service are now more business and education related and have included trips into Canada, Mexico, Ghana, Sweden and others. As I travel, I continue to gain a great love for my brothers and sisters of the Nations of the world. My background in film, anthropology and a sincere love for learning of the peoples and cultures of the world help me to truly find joy. I am now happily married and enjoying four wonderful children who love to ask me the wonderful never ending question "How much further?"

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon simply because of how it makes me feel in my heart and the way the it makes sense in my mind. When I follow the teachings of Christ and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, or the 'Mormon church', I feel and find greater joy then I ever have in any other way. This joy is a feeling that makes me happy, that encourages me want to learn more, that allows me to be a better person, a better world citizen. I am a Mormon because I believe with all of my heart and mind that this is the church Jesus Christ established when he was on the earth and that later was reorganized through his modern prophet Joseph Smith in our day.

How I live my faith

Christ taught that through 'their fruits, ye shall know them'. I have various 'fruits' in my life and by knowing them you will know me better. Some of my fruits are the film projects that I have worked on and created. Films that I hope others will see and which will help persuade all of us to be better, to find that true sweet joy. My children are my most precious fruits in life. Their actions and who they are reflect on who I am and what I have taught them. I hope to help them grow and develop in better ways so they will have good fruit. I hope to live my faith by the way I smile at people, by the way I talk with people and by the way I serve people. I hope to live my faith the same way Christ lived his, in the pursuit of helping others to be better.
