Hi I'm Matt Prina

I'm a husband, a student of mechanical engineering, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student of mechanical engineering at BYU. I'm married to the prettiest girl in the world. I love art, cars, people, and being outdoors. I am an identical twin. I love sports, especially basketball. I love games like croquet, hacky sack, and foosball.

Why I am a Mormon

My faith in Jesus Christ is something very important to me. It is an anchor in my life and carries me through my trials. As "Mormons" we are members of Christ's Church The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. As a college student it is sometimes easy to get caught up in the "vain things of the world" but as I stick to the values I've been taught as a Mormon, and try to be like Jesus Christ I can stay focused on my goal: real happiness in this life and eternal salvation with my family in the life to come.

How I live my faith

Every member of the church is important and has a responsibility. I recently returned from a two year mission in Honolulu Hawaii. 19 year old young men in the church give up two years of their lives to serve the Lord. As a missionary in Hawaii I had the opportunity to teach the people of Hawaii about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and how it has been brought back to the world in it's fullness. 7 days a week for two years I would knock on doors, run from angry dogs, sit in living rooms and teach families, baptize people who desired to join the church, and do community service in any way I could. My mission was the best two years of my life. As a returned missionary I still share the gospel with others but I get to return to normal life, school, dating, etc.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Matt Prina
No, all young men are encouraged to serve a two year mission at age 19 but they don't have to. Young women can also serve but are encouraged to get married and start a family. Married couples also have the opportunity to serve missions after they're kids are grown up and they've retired. No, not all Mormons go on a mission but if they have the opportunity to go and they choose not to, they're missing out! Show more Show less
