Hi I'm Wendell

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have Swiss, Danish and Welsh ancestry. My wife and I have been married for 24 years and have two adopted children. I grew up in Chicago until 19. As a child, I lived in a small city Colmar in Alsace, France for 4 years. Both my wife and I worked and went to school at the same time. She completed a Bachelors degree in Accounting. I completed two degrees. The first was a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and the second a B.S. in Chemistry. While finishing the last degree, I also completed many language courses in French and German. I am a great great grandson of a LDS hymn author/composer Hans Henry Petersen. I learned to play piano by myself and enjoy playing classical and ragtime style music. I frequently am asked to play the organ at church for large meetings. I have served in many callings in the church and have enjoyed my service. I have had many callings working with the youth and callings working at the stake level.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up with my mother and step father who were not active in the church. The few times that I went to church, I identified with what was being taught. In my twenties, it became time that I had to make a decision in my faith. I tested the principles I remembered from my youth and felt the reassurance of choosing a better choice. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, gives me the opportunity to have a firm awareness of why I am here, where was I before I was born and where I may go through obedience of laws and ordinances of the gospel. I also enjoy the opportunity to serve and teach in the gospel.

How I live my faith

I demonstrate my faith by attending my meetings on Sunday. I visit other families to share my faith and testimony on a monthly basis. I have frequently be asked and have fulfilled to serve as a Scoutmaster and other scouting responsibilities. I often substitute as an organist in our ward and stake meetings. I enjoy participating in choirs, men ensembles including barber shop. I love to have friends over in fellowship. I love the gospel and love to serve as my health might allow. I have a strong testimony of a loving heavenly father that answers prayers and in his living Son that freed me of my burdens of my early life. He is my shepherd and has patiently guided me through trials and blessings. I and my family are better for it now and forever. I and strongly believe that if I had followed the traditions of my parents, as my other siblings have, I might not be alive nor happily married with two great adopted children.
