Hi I'm Anna Elaine

I live in the Pacific Northwest of the USA. I have deaf parents. I love learning. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife of 8 years and a mom of 2 kids...with one on the way. One of the best things I've done recently is start going back to school to pursue a degree in Dental Hygiene. I've always loved being home with my kids, but felt it is important to have a field I can work in if needed. I still get to stay home with my kids, take them to my "Crossfit" gym with me, go to the store and take my 4 year old to preschool. Then 2 nights a week when my husband gets home, we switch reins and he takes care of the kids while I run off to learn about viruses, bacteria and all sorts of diseases. It has become good "me time," conversing with other adults, learning about real world stuff.  I know I couldn't do all I do without the support of my family. They are my foundation and the loves of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in this faith by my parents, but when I came of age, it then became a choice of how I wanted to live. I had seen friends and others around me make choices that took them a direction I knew I didn't want to go. More importantly, I knew where I DID want to go-- and then took steps to get there. I said no to a lot of things and made a lot of unpopular decisions. Ultimately, it led me to a marriage to the sweetest and most loving husband and father. What is more is that I know we have eachother forever- a huge source of comfort in all the ups and downs in life.

How I live my faith

I say prayers every day. Usually by my bedside before I go to bed or leave the room in the morning. Sometimes the busy-ness of the day runs me out before I pray, and I definitely notice a difference in my mood those days. Sometimes I pray for help in the moment to know how to discipline my children, or have extra patience, or be a good example for them. I also read The Book of Mormon every day. I love the Bible and have read stories of Jesus to my children but The Book of Mormon really speaks to my soul. On an ideal day, I read outloud with my kids so they can hear it too and have an opportunity to ask questions. On Sundays I get the chance to work with the 70+ children in our congregation. They range from ages 3-11 and have many unique challenges and personalities. Often I teach them about how much I know God loves them and hope they feel His love through my actions and words.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Anna Elaine
This is what I tell my 4 year old about the Temple. It is the most BEAUTIFUL place. One where everyone whispers and dresses like they are meeting the Savior. It is clean. It is quiet. We go there to be baptized for people who did not get the opportunity to be baptized. We go there to learn. I LOVE the Temple and am so excited for every opportunity I get to go there. Every time I go, I feel loved. I feel happy.  Show more Show less
