Hi I'm Marti

I love to go mountain climbing, biking, and white water rafting especially when my family comes with me, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have always enjoyed the outdoors and met my husband while climbing in Idaho. We got engaged on Mt. Rainier, married and now have 5 children. We have shared out love of the outdoors with them and enjoy such things as mountain biking, hiking, climbing, and white water rafting together. They have all made it to the top of Mt. Rainier at least once and we also rafted the Grand Canyon as a family on our own permit. We have enjoyed sharing these recreational activities through the youth programs of the church through scouting and girls high adventure trips as well. The "Proclamation on the Family", a statement by church leaders, states that "Successful marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work and wholesome recreational activities." We have the "wholesome recreational activities" part nailed...we say that we "work hard and play harder"!!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the doctrine answers my questions and gives a purpose to so many of the things that happen in this world. I am a seeker of truth and have always wanted to know more. The gospel answers those questions and gives me peace. When the struggles of life get to me, I am strengthened by church attendance, reading the scriptures, prayer and support from other church members. I am a Mormon because I know that the Lord continues to reveal truths and inspiration not only to the leaders of the Church, but to me individually. He does not remove the trials from my life, but strengthens, guides and gives me answers to my prayers and blesses my life in so very many ways through his restored gospel.

How I live my faith

Currently I am the president of the women's organization. But in the past we have been involved with the youth and their High Adventure programs. We have climbed Mt. Rainier in Washington with the Young Men, white water rafted the Deschutes river in Oregon with the Young Women, climbed the Grand Teton in Wyoming and biked in the San Juan Islands. We have love working with the youth of the church and many of their friends who joined along.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

I most definitely do! Certainly God is not a changing God revealing his word only to people of one time period. We know that there were many who lived at the time of the ancient prophets who did not believe them, our time is no different. The Lord sends prophets when there is a need for them and certainly of all the times in the history of the world, we need prophets NOW during these difficult days just prior to the return of Jesus Christ to the earth.
