Hi I'm Erik Nelson

I'm a chemical engineer, a runner, the father of 6, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been married 12 years and am raising 6 young children together with my wife. I recently finished a master's degree in chemical engineering from Columbia University while working full time and spending as much time as I can with my family. I enjoy running for fitness and run about 15-20 miles per week. I love to read and try to fit it in as much as I can — I fit reading into my schedule largely by listening to audiobooks. My favorite type of pleasure reading is Science Fiction / Fantasy. I also enjoy computers and yo-yos.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that the truth of God's plan for his children is found in the Mormon church. My parents raised me as a Mormon, but when I got old enough to be independent, I needed to know for myself. Like many others, I have prayed to receive a knowledge of the truth and have received an answer from God through the Holy Ghost that the total of God's truth required for us to return to him is all found in the Mormon church. My testimony has only grown stronger in the years since then as I have obeyed God's commandments to the best of my ability and seen the blessings that come.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by always saying yes and doing my best when I receive an assignment through church leaders. I currently am called to teach a weekly Sunday School class to the adult members of our local congregation (ward). I teach about the scriptures and the doctrines of Jesus Christ that they contain. I try to teach my children by word and example how to follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ.
