Hi I'm Telisha

I'm a Mormon. I love the outdoors. I love hanging out with my family. When I get to do both, I'm on top of the world.

About Me

I have 4 of the cutest kids in the world, and a husband who works hard to let me know he loves me. I stay home while my husband goes to work doing research as an Aeronautical Engineer. Being a stay at home mom is hard work I've come to find out - no rest for the weary, that's for sure! I spend most of my time feeding, wiping, hugging, patting, washing and loving the little bodies of my kids. When I'm not busy with that, I enjoy reading, and sewing together an occasional quilt. I love camping and have even done some deer hunting in my day. Spending time outside enjoying nature, taking trips, and camping has all gotten trickier with 4 young kids, but my husband and I do our best to get out there and do it anyways! We know that a family that plays (and prays) together, stays together, right? :)

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I want to be happy. I'm not that old, but I am old enough to know that I am happiest when I am following the teachings of my Savior. When I am reading the scriptures, saying heartfelt prayers, trying to keep myself healthy, and following the Prophet - that is when I feel good about myself. I am grateful that I have had opportunities to feel the Spirit and know that Christ is there, that He loves me. These are the experiences I lean on when I begin to doubt myself and my worth. I am a Mormon because I know Heavenly Father has given us a way to return to Him. I am grateful I know the plan. I am grateful I have the scriptures and a prophet to show me how to navigate the world we live in. There are days that all I hear is whining and screaming and I waver a bit, wondering how to go on. Thankfully I've created good habits in my life, like reading the scriptures every day, that encourage me to keep going. Knowing the plan, and the blessings that come from following Jesus Christ give me hope. Hope to press forward. Hope then gives me motivation to strengthen my faith, keep the commandments, and to continue to build relationships with my family. If I follow Heavenly Father's plan, my family can be together forever. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by following the Spirit. I try to listen to promptings the Holy Ghost gives me to slow down and be patient with my children, with my husband, or with myself. I try and listen when the Spirit encourages me to send someone a letter, say sorry, make a treat to share with a neighbor, or call a friend. I try and listen to the Spirit tell me when to share truths about my church with others. I also live my faith by teaching the children in our congregation that Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father love them. Every Sunday I am given the opportunity to teach kids about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I help them gain a knowledge for themselves that they are not alone in the world, but that they are watched over, and given a way to return to a Heavenly family. I am grateful that I get to see up close the kids' simple faith, their complete willingness to trust in Jesus Christ, because it strengthens my belief in Him too.
