Hi I'm Evelyn

I was born in the United States of "goodly parents". I am a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon).

About Me

I work at a desk job and try to maintain a small apartment. I love family history. I enjoy watching people around me and being in the midst of wonderful cultural, community and family events even though I have no children of my own. I love being with my nieces and nephews and having them around me. In fact, I have elected to take on a few nieces and nephews that may not be related but still treat me as their aunt. I have just started taking on a university course and am struggling to discipline myself to study. I love languages and have traveled some but would love to travel again.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Baptist faith, baptized when I was very young and taught the importance of baptism by Pastor Holland who would serve me milk and cookies in the basement of the church while discussing the gospel with me prior to my baptism. Then, at some point my father remarried and I joined the Lutheran faith and was taught the catechism by my stepmother and went through confirmation. Then, after some time, I was sent to live with a grandfather and an uncle. My grandfather and uncle were learned men. My grandfather having been a lay minister in his youth and my uncle then a preacher for the Methodist faith. However, my uncle also studied the occult and was the cause of some very fearful moments in my life. Why am I a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints? Why am I a Mormon? I made a decision while in my high school years to pray to Heavenly Father asking which church was true, similar in some fashion as Joseph Smith did, and my prayer was answered. A girl I met at school (whose face seemed too clean) befriended me and invited me to scripture study and services at the "Mormon" church. I kept commenting to my grandfather and my uncle how her face just seemed so clean. This was the effect of the Holy Spirit letting me know that I should listen and observe. I read Joseph Smith's witness and testimony of the gospel. My friend, stayed faithful in helping me to get to church events despite my uncle following behind us, giving her threatening looks and threatening to keep me from the church. But I prayed and I felt the Holy Spirit witness the truth of the gospel to me. After I was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ, I was blessed with more protection and spiritual strength and awareness to work through the difficulties of my life. I am so grateful to my Heavenly Father for providing me with someone who proved faithful and patient with their own witness of Jesus Christ and his Church here upon the earth. Thank you Heavenly Father!

How I live my faith

I have a calling as a family history consultant and try to work on documenting my own family history as well as assisting my family and others who ask for my assistance. I try to attend church meetings every week and work on improving myself and my service to others. This is a continuous challenge for me.
