Hi I'm Cameron Gygi

I come from an international family, I'm a runner, future engineer, all around good guy, and I'm a mormon

About Me

I was born outside of Washington D.C and because my Father was in the department of deffense I spent nine years of my life in D.C and nine years living overseas in Thailand. I have a Thai step mother and four thai step siblings. All together may family has ten people in it. I served my mission in Daejeon Korea and I loved it there. I like running, wathing movies, reading books, singing, driving, inventing, designing, sometimes doing math, learning other languages, Asia, bicycling, hiking, rock climbing, listening to music, play percussion and piano, living life to highest potential that I have.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the faith but I really decided to be dedicated toward it when I read and prayed about The Book of Mormon and I let God give me the answer. I was about 16 years old at the time and I had come to a point in my life where I desired to know if it was true for myself or leave the faith. At the time I had previously been going through some personal trials in my life. My family had been living in Thailand for the second time for about a year. It was a struggle to make new friends and adjust to a more difficult school. Previous to moving to Thailand my mother had passed away which was really difficult for me. I had relied on the testimony of my mother for years and now that she was gone I realized I had to now make the choice for my self. I had a astute seminary teacher who encouraged me to be better and read The Book of Mormon. I started reading one chapter every night and then praying to know if it was true. At first I didn't feel anything but I continued to press on and one night while I was reading in Alma I had this overwhelming feeling that came over me that I could not make up myself. I felt peace and joy which I know only God can create. At that moment I came to know that The Book of Mormon is true. Since then it has blessed my life tremendously and I have been able to become a better person because of it. I continue to strengthen my testimony by trying to live what the Savior taught and do what He taught. I know that this is His gospel and it is true and it means everything to me. It brings peace to my soul and has brought me close to my Savior by giving me a deeper understanding of His atonement. It has also brought my family closer together with the knowledge the plan of happiness provided by a loving Father in Heaven and the reality that families can be eternal. I know it is true and I encourage everyone to find out for themselves.

How I live my faith

I admit I am not the perfect example but I try to live what He taught and try to improve myself. I try to be an example to others and my family. I admit I am sometimes hard on myself because of my own high expectations for myself. The gospel gives me the ability to see further with the eyes of faith and see the big picture of what life really is. It helps me to see my divine potential and puts things into perspective. Thus I know why I need to obey the commandments of the Savior and I do my best to do so and live my life as He would. Even though the expectations may seem high or demanding, the reward in the end is much greater. Thats what the gospel does. It helps all to see the grand sceme of things and helps us understand that sometimes life is hard but it is all worth it in the end and good things will always come.
