Hi I'm Lori

"I live in the Mid-West section of America. I am pursuing my PhD in counseling. I'm a Mormon."

About Me

Hello. I have been happily married now for almost 24 years..My husband and I were married in the Manti, Utah Temple. We have 5 children. 4 daughters and 1 adopted son. My two oldest daughters were both married 2 years ago and they are also, both expecting baby boys! Yay...Grandsons! I am a busy person. My faith and family come first in my life. I went back to college over 2 years ago to complete my bachelor degree. I will then pursue a PhD in counseling. The most joy I feel in my life comes through my family. They are the most important blessing in my life. My hobbies include, writing, I started a support group for people who have lost a loved one due to death on the internet which has people from all over the world corresponding and helping one another. I love to dance, spend time with my family, and go on vacations. My most memorable vacation was to Tahiti. The island of Bora Bora felt like paradise! Or...Heaven on earth! ;-)

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have read The Book of Mormon and know that it is also an inspired composition of scripture from our loving Heavenly Father. A misconception about Mormons is that we are not christian and do not believe in the Bible. Of course, this is not true. We read from the Bible, we study the Bible, we learn from the Bible. The Book of Mormon does not compete with the Bible....it is my opinion that it completes the Bible. They work together. In fact, The Book of Mormon speaks of Christ more than does the Bible. Also, Heavenly Father loves ALL of His children, of course it makes sense to me that Jesus would have visited others of his fold too.... I am also a Mormon because it stengthens me and provides me hope and faith that this life is NOT the end! Heavenly Father has a plan and a purpose for each one of us. He knows us by name and loves us individually. We are each one a child of God. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has been my guide and compass during the good times in my life and more importantly, during my trials and difficulties in life. Without this gospel, I worry about what kind of person I would be and what kind of life I would have chosen live. Yes, I am a Mormon! Yes, I am a christian! We DO believe in Christ as our Savior and Redeemer. The very name of our church carries HIS name: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Thank you for reading my post and may God bless you, my friends and brothers and sisters.

How I live my faith

I was born into this church and have a deep spiritual inclination. This gospel has provided me with so many opportunities to serve within the church itself and to also serve within the communities I have lived in. In the church, I have held many callings. We are not paid to do these callings. In fact, my husband has been the bishop of our ward/church now for almost 6 years. Unlike other churches where preachers and ministers get paid, he gives of his time willingly and does not receive money for this calling. I have currently been called to work with the young women as one of their leaders. I love these sweet young girls. I pray daily for them as they will be our future mothers and leaders.

Are Mormons Christians?

Lori
Yes. Mormons are definitely Christians. I live in the Mid-West and I know that people sometimes wonder this. Many people believe our church is "The Mormon Church." However, the true name of our church proves that we are Christians. Its name is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Some people also believe that we worship Joseph Smith. This is not true. We revere him and love him as a prophet. We are the church of Jesus Christ and that's who we worship. We believe and teach of Christ. We worship the Savior as the Son of God. I know that Christ loves me. He atoned for my sins and even gave His very life for all mankind. I will try to do my best to live my life in a way which would be both pleasing to Him and to my Heavenly Father. Show more Show less
