Hi I'm Bertha

I am a wife, mother and grandmother. I am also a hospice nurse. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have 3 children and 3 grandchildren. Like most grandmas I truly enjoy being with my grandchildren. I enjoy reading, traveling and recently started taking horseback riding lessons. I have been a hospice nurse for 19 years and love my work.

Why I am a Mormon

I first heard about the LDS church from my sister who had been recently baptized. She told me about the Bood of Mormon and shared with me that it was another testament of Jesus Christ. She explained that the Book of Mormorn did not contradict the Bible but supported the teachings of the Bible. After talking with my sister I had a sense that the book was true. Upon returning home, two missionaries of the LDS church knocked on my door. When I opened the door I said "I have been waiting for you". This statement just came out of my my mouth before I thought, sometimes I surprise myself with the things I say. I invited them in and they taught me more about the teachings of the LDS church and Jesus Christ. I was baptised after taking the lesson. That was more than 40 years ago. I knew then and I know now that the LDS church and it's teachings about Jesus Chirst are true.

How I live my faith

I attend church each week. We have a women's organization that I belong to. In this organization we support one another. One of the things that I do with one of my friends in the Church if visit 2 other women in our church. We refer to this as "visiting teaching". In this way we are able to teach and help one another as day to day issues arise. For example if one of the women we visit is sick we might take a meal into her. If their is a furneral our women's organization might arrange to make a meal to serve after the furneral service. We also get together and make things such as quilts or assemble hygeine kits to send to places where there have been disasters such as floods or earthquakes. I try to follow the example to Jesus and to be as much like him as I can. I am not always successful but I just keep trying.

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Yes, it is true theat Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection. In John 10 16 we read And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice and there shall be one fold and one shepherd. Some of these sheep were the inhabitants living in the Americas at that time.  Show more Show less
