Hi I'm Jennifer Willes

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi! I am from Burley, Idaho. I am a wife, mother, music teacher, scrapbooker, volleyball and football lover, and a Mormon. I've been married for 21 years and we have 4 boys, 1 girl, including a set of twins, and a cat called, "Kitty." I am an elementary music teacher to 4th to 6th grade students and love every minute of it. I play piano, clarinet, and saxophone, and love any and all forms of music.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have studied and prayed, and have received a sure knowledge that there is only one church on this Earth that has the proper authority to act in the name of God, and that is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I cannot deny this knowledge. I know that this life is a gift, and that God sent us here to learn and grow. I know that I am a daughter of God and that he loves me. I know the Bible and the Book of Mormon are the word of God, preserved to show me the Plan of Happiness and guide me home. I know that Joseph Smith restored Christ's own church to the Earth and was given Priesthood keys that bind families together forever. I know that Jesus Christ died to atone for my sins so that I, through my efforts to become like Him, can return to my Heavenly Father clean and pure.

How I live my faith

Faith makes everything I do better. Family prayer and scripture study start my day with faith. My job is more rewarding knowing my students are children of God. Through various Church assignments I've developed talents and lifelong friendships that buoy me up. Even Church sports build my faith. Right now I teach a women's Sunday class and am getting to know three sisters by teaching monthly lessons in their homes. This faith makes everything more fun, even service and social activities are more uplifting and fun. We often combine faith and fun, like our "Valentine Luau" where we learned about Hawaii and learned to hula, and a recent surprise Ice Cream Social where we honored three men who led our ward for five years.

What is the difference between attending church and the temple?

Jennifer Willes
When you attend church, you and other members teach each other the basics of living the Gospel, learn about the Savior and perform ordinances like the Sacrament, which reminds us of our baptismal covenants. At the temple, you are instructed, as well, but it is a deeper instruction that prepares you to make sacred covenants with the Lord.  Show more Show less
