Hi I'm Annie

I grew up in Alaska, I'm a raft guide, I'm a swim lessons instructor, I'm a wife, I'm a soon to be Mother, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Alaska, I love the outdoors especially rafting, fishing, canoeing, climbing, ultimate frisbee, biking, and hiking. I am a lifeguard and teach swim lessons, I love kids, my husband and having fun!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up knowing there was a God but not through any organized religion I did not even know who Jesus was until I was about 16. I met a young man who returned from a church camp called Especially for Youth where he had learned for himself that the church he attended was true. I asked him what church it was and he explained it was the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I had never heard of this church before, so I asked him questions about it. He explained to me that there was a church that Jesus set up when he was here with 12 Apostles and a power to act in Gods name and how when they were killed the power to act in Gods name was taken away. He then told me about how a boy named Joseph Smith had wondered which church was true and if there was only one and how he would know!? I really felt this was for me to hear because I felt the same way! I had attended many other churches with my friends but never understood what they were talking about and I always had so many questions that I felt no one ever answered. My friend continued to tell me about how Joseph had prayed to know which church was true and how he had seen God and Jesus Christ and they told him not to join any church and how he was called to reestablish Christ's church. My friend invited me to meet with the missionaries and I did, so did my sister who had noticed a change in my friend as well. As we met with the missionaries we both had our questions about religion finally answered, even questions of our heart that we had never asked. It was amazing when we started going to church with our friend. As we listened and learned from the lessons we had feelings of peace, hope and understanding of our purpose in life. I had the feeling that the way the church members lived was what I was supposed to be like. I knew it was true and I knew as a read the Book of Mormon that Joseph Smith was a true prophet and the true church was on the earth today. I am so grateful that I am a part of it!

How I live my faith

I read my scriptures every day, I pray daily with my husband and have personal prayers. I attend church, the temple and think about my Savior often. I reflect on the truths I have learned and try to apply them in my life, I am not perfect but with trials always comes growth. I love learning new things about the gospel of Jesus Christ, the depth of the same scriptures I have read over and over again amazes me. We are preparing for our first child, its a girl! We are so excited and we are realizing what a big responsibility it is to care for someone and love someone who is an individual with their own personality, feelings, hopes and dreams. It really makes you think about where we came from, why we are here, and where we are going. Those questions are answered for us in Heavenly Fathers plan, that is just one amazing answer and blessing this church gives me. Now, as I keep learning about the gospel and growing in my testimony of Jesus Christ I feel continued hope, peace, love, and guidance through the Holy Ghost. It feels so good to know the truth and to be living the commandments. I had the opportunity to serve a mission for this church when I was 22 and it was such an incredible experience teaching others the truths I had learned. I also have been married in the temple of our Lord and know it was the right place, the right time, and the right person to be married to. I know the gospel of Jesus Christ has blessed my life and looking back I have no idea where I would be without it. I know every good thing in my life has come from being a worthy faithful member of this amazing Church. What is so incredible is we can each find out for ourselves we don't have to just take others words for it. That is what I did, and keep doing over and over again, I know Heavenly Father answered prayers, as long as we ask, seek, and knock, it truly shall be opened unto us.
