Hi I'm Chris

I am a father of 5 children. I am an outdoor enthusiast. I'm a research scientist. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a research scientist working as a postdoctoral research fellow. I study influenza virus (Flu) infection and try to understand how the body fights the Flu and why it sometimes fails. I am also a father with five children, four girls and one boy (the youngest). I enjoy running, camping, hiking, fishing and hunting. I also enjoy watching princess movies and playing dolls with my four girls and playing trucks or blocks with my son.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was baptized and raised as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon Church), I was not sure for my self that this church was true until I was about 16 years old. A good friend challenged me to read the Book of Mormon each and every night. Initially, I did this just to pacify my friend, but little by little, I began to feel the spirit of God as I read. After a few months, I no longer needed the encouragement of my friend, as I truly wanted to feel the spirit of God and learn his words and his will for me. Finally, as I began to live the teachings of Jesus Chris found in the Book of Mormon, my life became happier and more full of love and joy. In John 7:17 it says, "If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself." Matthew 7:20 also says, "Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them." After reading and living the teachings of Jesus Christ found in the Book of Mormon and the Bible, I knew that they were true, because my life was better, happier and more full of the spirit of God. That is when I knew that the Book of Mormon was true and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was true. I have since learned more and had many more opportunities to feel the spirit of God in my life testifying that what I am taught in this church is true. Only in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints can a family be sealed as a family forever by the priesthood power of God. In no other church is there a prophet like there is here, and we need a prophet in these terrible times. No other religion can do more to help us find peace and happiness in this life and help us prepare ourselves to meet God again and that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Balancing family life, research and church responsibilities is often a challenge. However, as I put God first in my life, I find that I have the energy and determination necessary to accomplish what I need to and what I want to in my work and family life. At church I serve as the ward mission leader and I work closely with full-time missionaries, church leaders and ward members to help those not of our faith to recognize the blessings that God has to offer, such as the priesthood power to seal a family together forever. I also serve as a home teacher. Each month, I visit church members and encourage them to live the gospel of Jesus Christ. This may be through a simple lesson, or by helping a single mother to get her children to church when she has to work on Sunday. It gives me great hope and joy when I see the happiness others feel when they live the gospel of Jesus Christ.
