Hi I'm Katy

I'm a wife, mother, community volunteer, trained Social Worker. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mother of three and have been married for 13 years. I love being around people who inspire me and am very grateful for good friends and family. I trained as a Social Worker, but, due to family circumstances, don't work right now. I love to help out where I can as a volunteer.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when I was just a baby. So, I was raised as a Mormon. However, as a teenager, I realized that I needed to decide for myself if I wanted to continue as a member of this church or not. I thought that the best way to figure that out was to study about it and learn as much as I could. And I prayed to ask Heavenly Father if what I had learned was the right thing for me. I felt a great peace in my heart and a warm, loving feeling inside of my heart when I prayed. I believe that was the Lord answering my prayer that I was following the path He wanted for me.The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has been a guiding light in my life. The teaching that has had the biggest impact on me is that Jesus Christ is my Savior. He died for my sins and He now lives - because He was resurrected. I've been taught - and truly believe - that true happiness in this life and in the life hereafter comes from following the example of Jesus Christ and relying on His love and mercy.

How I live my faith

I do my best to help others in causes that I believe in - in and out of the Church. I love working with children. And I currently help out with the women's group at church.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

I was asked this question frequently as a missionary. None of us can return to the presence of God without the grace of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Without His sacrifice on the cross, we would be left in a helpless state. Repeatedly in the scriptures, Jesus says, "Come, follow me." He calls for us to follow His example and to be like Him. He calls on us to live like Him, to repent when necessary, and to "go, and sin no more" after we make a mistake. So - here is my understanding of what Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace. We follow the counsel of Jesus Christ in doing as He did, having faith in Him, and repenting changing our lives when we need to. But, that isn't enough. We are not able to bring ourselves to heaven. It is only because of His grace that we are able to return to the kingdom of God. Show more Show less
