Hi I'm Julie

I'm a wife and mother. I'm a science teacher and I believe in evolution. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Las Vegas but finished high school in western Washington. I always knew I wanted to be a teacher and fell in love with biology. So naturally, I became a biology teacher. I believe that God used evolutionary means to create the world and that there is no disconnect between science and religion. I love learning about the what's and how's in the world and am in awe at the power of God. I can see his work in everything and am so grateful to know Him. I'm a mother of two beautiful children and know they are precious spirits of God-children of God-as we all are. My husband and I are committed to teaching our family this and the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I am deeply grateful for my parents who taught me the gospel and set the example for me. I'm also grateful for ancestors who accepted the gospel. My father is a first-generation member of the church and as analytical as he is, he whole-heartedly has a testimony of the truth of the gospel. I am the same way and had to know for myself if it is true. So, in my teenage years, I spent a lot of time pondering and learning about the gospel by reading the scriptures, attending church and through prayer. Over time, my testimony of the gospel has grown and I know that it is truth, as plain as scientific truth. It continues to grow every day as I try to live righteously and nurture my faith.

How I live my faith

My faith is dependent on my daily prayers, scripture study, attitude, weekly church attendence, and how well I am trying to keep the commandents the Lord has given us. If I lack in my persistance in any of these areas, my faith struggles. I currently assist with the music at church and can feel His love and Spirit through the hymns we sing. One way I can always increase my faith and attitude is through listening to hymns or playing them on the piano. It always puts me in a better mood and eases the tension in our home.

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

The prophet today is Thomas S. Monson. He is the prophet for the world, not just the mormons. He, like Moses, Abraham and other prophets in the Bible receives revelation from the Lord on how we can better live our lives and shares that revelation with us. His word is as important, if not more, than the words of ancient prophets because his word is God's word and is revelation for our current day.  Show more Show less

Can husband and wife be together forever? Do you believe that families will live together in heaven?

This is probably my favorite aspect of the gospel. Of course families are forever! Why would a loving God create us and encourage family relationships just to separate them at death? Families can be together forever dependent on each individual's worthiness in this life. It's simple-if you keep the commandments, you can be with your family forever. Doesn't that just make you so happy? It does for me! Show more Show less
