Hi I'm Todd & Gretchen

Todd grew up in Seattle, WA and Gretchen in Virginia

About Me

We have been married for 26+ years and are parents of 6 children. I work as an Instructional Designer consultant and Gretchen works as a media assistant in a local high school library. I also work part-time at an addiction treatment center helping youth with drug/alcohol addictions. I like guitar and racquet sports and Gretchen loves reading. We are dedicated to our children's success and serving others.

Why I am a Mormon

I started attending church as a youth and for me, the gospel was like a "life raft" in a stormy sea of my teenage years. I found others with high standards to help lift me up and encourage me, including caring and concerned leaders who helped me make right decisions. As I studied the scriptures, including the Bible and the Book of Mormon, I found the parallels between the LDS/Mormon church and ancient Christian church amazing - living apostles, organized into a quorum of 12, a living prophet who has authority to receive revelation from God and write scripture, baptism by immersion for the remission of sins, the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost, priesthood authority and offices which can be traced back to Jesus Christ himself, spiritual gifts, and the basic principles of the gospel of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, repentance, baptism, and receiving the Holy Ghost. My questions were answered and not avoided. I love to talk of the gospel of Chirst and love to learn more. I have read the Bible cover to cover more than six times, as well as the Book of Mormon many more and I keep learning of more parallels and insights as the years go by. I visit www.fairlds.org for a scholarly look at the evidence of many topics and am happy to respond to any question others may have. I have a firm testimony and faith in the gospel of Christ.

How I live my faith

Gretchen and I are regular people who strive to be good neighbors and live the gospel and serve others. We pray and study the scriptures regularly as a family and participate at local school and other capacities in central Illinois. We attend church regularly and Gretchen has served in the Women's Organization, Children's organization and Young Women in many capacities. I have served as a clerk, mission leader, children's teacher, men's organization and young men's. My favorite service was my 4+ years as Scoutmaster/Young Men's Leader, although it was also the most time consuming. I love helping youth succeed. They are our future and are the precious souls given to us by our Heavenly Father to watch over and help get started on the right path. Gretchen volunteers at high school and has been Illinois Young Mother of the Year.
