Hi I'm Steven

I'm a civil engineer. I'm a guitarist. I'm a gamer. I'm an amateur skydiver. I'm a newlywed. And, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

What am I interested in? Adventure. I have recently picked up skydiving and snowboarding. However, with being newly married and finishing up a civil engineering degree, everyday life is often an adventure! My lovely wife of soon to be a year, Ashley, works as a middle school science teacher and is supporting our family, while I am currently seeking employment as a civil engineer and finishing my last semester at the university. In addition to learning engineering skills such as how to design steel structures and foundations, I am also learning husbanding skills like how to cook.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I read the book, and it's true. The book I refer to is the Book of Mormon. I gained a personal testimony of its veracity when I was 17 years old. I took the challenge to read the book and to pray and ask God whether the book was true. I received a powerful manifestation from the Holy Ghost of the truth of the Book of Mormon. Because of this, I decided to serve a mission. I served in the Washington Kennewick Mission from 2005 to 2007. The truths of the gospel continue to shape my life every day.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by actively participating in our church services. Ashley and I are instructors for the Teacher Development course in the Sunday school. Essentially it's a gospel course on teaching how to teach. While my wife has a lot of teaching experience, I don't have much, so it's a decent challenge for me. However, I've learned many things so far, and I'm happy to serve.

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is a powerful witness of Jesus Christ. It was written by ancient inhabitants of the Americas. Like the Bible, the Book of Mormon is divided into different books by authors, most of whom are prophets. The people in the Book of Mormon bore testimony that Jesus Christ visited them after his resurrection and taught them the gospel. We can know whether their testimony is true by reading the book, and asking God directly. Show more Show less
