Hi I'm James

I'm the youngest of seven boys. I'm a father. I played college volleyball. I love the beach. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the youngest of seven boys and with that was involved in many sports growing up. You name the sport I probably play it. I mostly enjoy surfing, skimboarding, snowboarding, wakeboarding, playing beach volleyball, basketball, football, and golf. A few years ago I finished the St. George marathon. I have been married almost ten years and have a very energetic 8 year old son. I love spending time with my family. I am an accountant at a health care company of skilled nursing facilities.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church with parents that loved me and taught me the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have six brothers also who were good examples of what it means to be a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They all served full-time missions for the Church. Young men are encouraged to spend two years of their lives in a place throughout the world away from their home. If you are a young man you can serve a mission when you are between the ages of 19-26 years old, but most serve when they turn 19. During the mission you share the Gospel with those you come in contact with and perform service around the communities you are called to serve. I knew that if I wanted to prepare to serve a mission like my elder brothers that I would need to know for myself whether the teachings of my Church were true. So when I was 18 I read the Book of Mormon in its entirety and felt the truth of it as I was reading it. Through prayer and study I gained a witness that this book was no ordinary book but another testament of Jesus Christ and a companion to the Bible. As I continue to learn and study the Gospel of Jesus Christ I gain a deeper appreciation of its message and gain a stronger conviction of knowing why I am here, where I am going and where we were before this life. This knowledge has richly blessed not only my life but my family's life and has motivated me to want to follow the Lord's plan.

How I live my faith

I think the most important work that can be done by living your faith is by the work you do in your home. So I try to foster relationships with my family in unity and love and do my best to be a good father and husband. I am so blessed to have a beautiful wife and son. Also, true happiness and peace comes by keeping God's commandments. I love the scripture in John 14:15 that says "if ye love me keep my commandments." I think this is the Gospel in the simplest form. Striving to keep God's commandments is the most supreme way one can live it's faith. Some ways I live my faith is by going to church every Sunday with my family, serving in my community by being a member of the PTA and being on my homeowner's association's board. I live my faith by caring for my neighbors around my community. Also I strive to keep my body clean and pure by avoiding alcohol and harmful drugs. Following this commandment has definitely help me have a sound mind. Also studying the scriptures and personal prayer with my Heavenly Father are two things that I try to do daily to live my faith. The Savior is the greatest example we have to live our faith, so remembering Him and His life helps me know what I need to do to live my faith. Knowing that He suffered for my sins gives me hope that I can be forgiven when I stumble at times.
