Hi I'm Jessica

I'm the youngest of 7 and an aunt of 18. I love food, music, art, and sports. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student. I love to play basketball and soccer. I play the French horn and piano. I love the ocean and the life that lives in it. I plan to be a Marine Biologist some day. I love art, movies, and really good books.

Why I am a Mormon

I love being LDS or Mormon. I understand my purpose here and what my end goal is. With that knowledge I have the will to keep my faith and live the standards that have been given to me no matter how difficult they may seem. I love the wholesome atmosphere the church provides for me. I see the world around me and thank God above that I have a church that not only teaches correct principles but practices them and expects its members to do the same. The church has given me the clarity in my life, I may not be a convert but I did have to 'convert' so to speak to the gospel. I had to pray for myself to know if this church was right and I prayed and got my answer. And that is why I am still and will always be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am only 20 and have had many opportunities in the church to participate and show my leadership skills and learn how to be a good follower. I have participated in many service activities around my community such as help clean up camps in our area, help clean an elderly couples home, play music at a retirement home, spend time with those elderly or crippled people in our ward, and so many other things. The one thing I love about this church is just how service oriented we are. It teaches the youth to humble themselves and be willing to give of themselves and not expect anything in return. It has given me opportunities to lead a service project and in many other cases to know and understand how to be a good follower. Service is one way we can show our love and appreciation for God. I always get a warm good feeling when I'm performing service no matter how inconvenient or how hard it is.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Although we do help other Mormons we as a church also are there to help others in need too. The LDS church has been to disaster spots such as Florida after Hurricane Katrina, the church has been there to help those people out. We have a well oiled humanitarian section of our church. Not to long ago the ward that I attend did a service project for those who are in third world countries we packaged up sanitary stuff such as tooth paste, tooth brushes, towels, soup, and other sanitary necessities and than sent them to those countries. And that kind of project does not just happen in my ward that happens all across the world. We as a people are more than willing to help anyone who is in need. Our arms are open. We love to serve and you don't have to be Mormon to receive a helping hand from one. Show more Show less
