Hi I'm Jeff Westover

Father of seven, husband of one. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of seven, a husband, a writer, an Internet developer, an avid baseball fan and a tireless believer in Santa Claus and all things Christmas.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church in California, one of five children. Back in those days it was uncommon to be Mormon and I always felt it set me apart. It required of me to stand taller, to set an example for others and to try harder to be kind and to build goodwill. I learned that with those actions, as with all actions, there were consequences. Kindness was returned to me, respect was offered me, love was shown to me. While my Mormon faith was not held in common by all what seemed to be present was an abiding love in the teachings of The Master, Jesus Christ. And I found many with whom I held Him in common. As I have matured, I have continually tried to draw myself closer to Him through prayer and obedience. Not obedience to constrictive laws but obedience to ordinances that provide freedom beyond the boundaries of this world. I have learned more of His purposes in our creation and the great plan He has for me through His love.

How I live my faith

I have worked exclusively in teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ with my family, my neighbors and those I attend Church with. Through regular study of the scriptures together we have become closer to God as we have shared our witness with each other. Most recently I've taught a special course on Marriage and Family Relationships, where the sacred roles we all play are explored and examined. Having children means having constant activity and participating with them in various programs designed for their development. From their schooling at home to sports activities to leadership opportunities at Church with their peers it is a busy existence!

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Jeff Westover
As members of the Lord's Church we worship only our Heavenly Father and His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith -- like Moses, like Isaiah, like Elijah and other great prophets of the Bible -- is beloved for his work as one of God's prophets. If you could talk to Moses or have at hand something he personally wrote wouldn't you value it? That is how we feel about Joseph Smith, a man who only reached 38 years of age but who left us with a wealth of knowledge about the nature of God, the truth of Jesus the Christ, of revelation, prayer and drawing ourselves closer to God. He was a mighty instrument for good in helping modern man come closer to God through knowing Him and His plan. Show more Show less
