Hi I'm Erick

I'm a Certified Master Barbeque Judge for the Kansas City BBQ Society, I love to cook and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in Illinois, and work for a large manufacturing company as the IT End User Support Manager at their Engine Plant. My wife and I have been married for over eighteen years. We have many friends, and other family members who we love with all our hearts. Several years ago I got involved with the Kansas City Barbecue Society and became a Certified BBQ Judge. I started going around the midwest judging BBQ. After judging 30 different competitions, and even cooking in one of them, I became a Master Judge. Now with over 60 competitions under my belt I feel I'm a pretty good judge of BBQ. I have always loved to cook, and now am the proud owner of two Big Green Eggs and a Traeger BBQ Smoker. I love to barbecue meats and other foods. I also love to bake bread. I grind my own wheat, and make Whole Wheat bread. I love to experiment and try new foods.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born of goodly parents into the Church. Even though I grew up a member of the Church, I still had to gain a testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel. Through prayer, trials, and faith, I did gain a testimony that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth through Joseph Smith. I realized early on in life that I needed the Gospel to lead me throughout my life. Even though I may not make all the wisest choices, I strive daily to do what is right. I love my Savior, Jesus Christ, and know that I need Him in my life.

How I live my faith

I love to research my ancestors. I have done a lot of research, and have found relatives back into the early 1500's. I have recently started to scan pictures and slide from my childhood, and from boxes of photos my parents, grandparents and other relatives have given me. I love to see the old photos and learn about the people in the photos. I spend a lot of time teaching others about Jesus Christ. I love to go with our missionaries and help them teach people about Christ, the Gospel, and the way back to living with our Father in Heaven. When I am out judging barbecue I share my love of the Savior with other judges. If I get a change to go to a competition early I love to visit with the teams that are cooking at the competitions. I love to learn about their lives, their families, and especially their secrets to good barbecue.
