Hi I'm David Tanner

I will tell you my story -75 years of precious experiences, - A wife I cherish - Children I adore - And much much more

About Me

I am a retired teacher…Married 46 years with 6 children and 21 grandchildren. I am a lifelong Mormon member, ...although that is not the real name of our church.... I am now approaching 75 years. WHY AM I STILL A MEMBER? I will tell you. I am still a member because there are special reasons, like crown jewels that have come to me, wonderful discoveries I have made during my life’s adventure as a Mormon. . . ALSO . . .You should know that I think of myself as a typical and ordinary member of the Lord’s church. I have made many mistakes along my journey through life as a Mormon, yet there has always been a desire to improve and strive to do better. This has brought to me what are amazing discoveries. Because these are precious treasures to me, I have given a good deal of time and effort to present them to you.

Why I am a Mormon

I have discovered for myself that MORE-mons have all the good things of other religions and MORE! It is the MORE that sets us apart. You can find greater detail containing precious pearls, dear to me, because they have enriched my life…and they have gotten progressively sweeter and more special as time moved on. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Find them on my blog . . . David-lds.blogspot.com for this.

How I live my faith

First, and I believe most important, I practice prayer. My wife and I pray together morning and night, taking turns - vocally. I hear her pray for me and she hears me pray for her. The result of this has been that we have no unkind feelings for one another. We reflect upon the many blessings we have received and express sincere gratitude, naming many of them. We have common desires. We express these to Heavenly Father asking for His blessings to be upon ourselves, our children and grandchildren, and others whom we love and those who lead us. Then we have our own personal private prayers – silently . . . ALSO . . . I also search the scriptures. I especially enjoy the ‘Sermon on the Mount’ found in Mathew 5, 6 and 7. I find PROMISES to HOPE FOR and His guidance on what to do to qualify and receive them. Then, I try, in my life, to follow Him or “go and do” as He has directed. This process works! I have experienced it. . . ALSO... I try to follow the guidance of the Lord’s Prophets and Apostles whom He has placed to guide the members of His church here on the earth. I have learned this guidance is Inspired of God and applies to what is happening in the world today. This has blessed my life over and over again. . . ALSO . . . I accept ‘callings’ Things I am asked to do by our Bishop, to serve the members of my congregation. This creates and enhances dear and meaningful friendships . . . ALSO . . . I care about my family – so very important in our church. We do many things together to help and sustain one another. . . ALSO . . . Because I am retired I have extra time to spend in the Holy Temple. The joy and satisfaction in doing this is known only to those who go there. IT IS EXQUISITE!

Why is family so important to Mormons?

David Tanner
FAMILIES ARE IMPORTANT TO MORMONS BECAUSE FAMILIES CAN BE THE CLOSEST THING TO "HEAVEN ON EARTH"  That is where God is... that is where Love is. That is where Happiness is... that is where Togetherness is. As we strive to 'live' our religion, we achieve this "HEAVEN ON EARTH" And we also know how these families can be together forever!  Show more Show less
