Hi I'm Judy

I'm a grandmother. I bring history to life through musicals. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 3 and a grandmother of 3. I love writing and organizing events. I enjoy serving in my community and currently own a theatre in my little town of just over 300 people. My production company puts on historical reenactments. Our town is full of history so it's not hard to find - between pirates, colonial explorers, famous playwrites, we have it all! I love doing family history work and working with youth. Despite what some my consider a hinderance of having diabetes, I find strength in service and it hasn't slowed me down a bit! I'd rather clean dishes than cook. I believe there's nothing better than watching an old musical and West Side Story is still my favorite movie.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church but like most of us, I had a time in my life when I had to find out for myself - if what I had been taught as a child was true. I held fast to my Mormon belief because there just wasn't any other church that had the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ or the answers I needed to know. I've always been happier when I follow the doctrine and teachings. I know this church is true, I know that Joseph Smith saw God the Father and his son, Jesus Christ. I know the Bible and Book of Mormon are holy scripture and I know God lives and loves us. How do I know? Helen Keller once said, "I believe in God like I believe in the sun. Not because I can see it, but because by it I can see all things." The warmth, light and vision I have in my life is a direct result of the Son of God, my Savior Jesus Christ and by HIm, I can see things much more clearly. It's easy to answer those age-old questions of "Why am I here?" "Where am I from?" and "Where Am I going?" The Son does help me see all things. The Church and the people who lead and guide me within it, shows me how to draw closer to Him.

How I live my faith

My faith is my life. It's not just something I do on Sunday. I believe that since I have been blessed with so many things- my life, my freedom, my incredible family - that I should devote as much time as possible into building up God's kingdom. So I do my best to do my part. I serve within my church as president of the women's organization in our congregation. . But I take my faith into my everyday life as well and find joy in teaching others to 'walk in the light' through my production company. I enjoy seeing children and adults find their confidence and sometimes hidden talent when they step on stage and into the spotlight. That is why I purchased an outdoor theatre and created a non-profit production company.

Are Mormons Christians?

I've been asked so many times from extended family and friends why I am not a "christian". I can't believe that people I know would even ask since I spend so much of every waking hour trying to follow Christ. I have even stood before councils of other churches to defend that point. But I think the confusion has come from people believing that we worship Joseph Smith rather than Jesus Christ. I assure them that while we revere Joseph Smith as a prophet of this dispensation, we believe that the ONLY Savior and Redeemer of the world is Jesus Christ. Of course, then comes the question, "Do you believe in the same Jesus Christ we believe in?" I sometimes chuckle and say "I'm not sure of any other Jesus Christ" but then I assure them that it is the same Jesus that is spoken of in the Bible and the same Jesus born of the virgin, Mary and the same Jesus who died for our sins on the cross. I"m amazed at how misunderstood we are. There is so much untruth being spread through literature and media. I'm so glad when someone asks me about my religion so I can bear testimony to them that I too believe in Jesus Christ and his gospel.  If being a follower of Jesus Christ, acknowledging Him as my Savior and Redeemer and having faith in the Bible as scripture indicates that I'm a Christian...well, I am. No matter what other churches may proclaim us to be. I am a Mormon and that also makes me a Christian. Show more Show less
