Hi I'm Troy

I'm a bassoonist, a full time music-lover, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am from a small town in Idaho and have lived there most my life. Some may say that wouldn't be an exciting life to lead, but I am here to tell you I have loved and will continue to love it! I have attended college in Utah as a Music Performance Major on the bassoon. Currently I am serving a mission for the Oklahoma, Oklahoma City mission and am loving all the incredible experiences that come with being a missionary. I have an awesome family - probably the best in the world - and I love them to death. I am grateful to learn and grow as a missionary and then return home to continue with school and my family.

Why I am a Mormon

As a missionary, I have been able to see so many peoples' lives change from hearing and living the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. These opportunities have lead me to look and reflect on my own life and why I am a Mormon. Every day as I serve the Lord I continue to see that a testimony of the gospel is a very individual thing, but we can build it from others expereinces. This is truly what has strengthened my testimony the most - seeing others change as they embrace the gospel. As I open my heart to the Savior and let Him into my life, I see the blessings that come to me personally as I exercise my faith, which will bring a positive change into my life, helping me remember why it is that I was baptized which in turn will help push me to endure to the end. What a marvelous purpose for life! The gospel truly is the "good news" that has been restored to the earth and we have the blessing to let into our lives.

How I live my faith

I love the quote from Ralph Waldo Emmerson "The world belongs to the energetic!" How true this is! And how true this is for how I live my faith. Life is meant to be enjoyed, not just endured. Through the gospel we can come to know how we can not only be happy for a period of time, but truly for all this life and throughout all eternity! What a great blessing! I love being able to serve in the church and find joy as I loose myself in service. It isn't always easy. I really do like to be lazy and selfish at times, but that's why the gospel is here. To help push us and change us into become followers of Jesus Christ, to actually live what we believe.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Troy
Absolutely yes! There is a lot of confusion to how members of the church regard the Bible. We love it! We read from it, we learn from it, and we ponder its teachings and try to follow the example of our Savior as we know is recorded in the Bible. What a great blessing it is to have a tangible record of our Savior and His life, example, and ministry that we have so easily available for us in a world that is beginning to doubt and disbelieve. We need to continue to utilize this precious gift that the Lord has given to us to strengthen our testimony and faith of Jesus Christ.  Show more Show less
