Hi I'm Pilar

I joined the church when I was a teenager. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and a mother of teenage son. I graduated from college with a degree in Communications and work for state government as a writer and editor. My greatest blessings are my family, my friends and my faith.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 13, two mormon missionaries came to my parent's home. They taught me and my brother and sister. Before they came, I didn't know anything about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. When the elders taught us about the Restoration and that Heavenly Father leads his church today through a prophet, the Holy Ghost testified to me that these teachings were true. I also learned that I was a child of God and that he knows and loves me personally. Understanding that we lived with our Heavenly Father as spirits before we were born upon the Earth answered the question so many people ask, "Where did I come from?" This teaching and truth mirrors the quote from William Wordsworth, "Children come trailing clouds of glory from God, which is their home." When we understand where we come from, why we are here and where we are going, it helps us face our trials with faith. I am grateful that Heavenly Father's plan of happiness gives all his children the opportunity of living with him again, even those who have never had the opportunity of learning about his son Jesus Christ and his gospel while they were here on the Earth.

How I live my faith

For several years, I served as a teacher and leader in our children's Sunday School organization. Since I didn't grow up in the church, these callings helped me to learn more about the gospel and how it can bless our lives. Now, I serve as our ward's congregation women's charitable organization leader. This calling gives me the opportunity of increasing my faith in Jesus Christ, strengthen families and give service to those in need. I try my best every day to read my scriptures or listen to the counsel of our prophet and church leaders. I enjoy having Family Home Evening with my husband and son every week. This activity gives our family much needed time together since work and other responsibilities keep us very busy.

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

We believe that Jesus is the only begotten son of God. He created the heavens and the Earth will live on. He is our elder brother and is the head of our church. He lived a sinless, perfect life so he could atone for our sins and heal us from others actions or inactions. He also conquered physical death and because of his Resurrection, all mankind will have their bodies and spirits reunited. He is our elder brother and is the head of our church. Show more Show less
