Hi I'm Mike

I love music, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm a 21 year old college student, studying medicine. I love music. I play guitar and piano, and I love to sing. I also really love any sport. I am a pretty simple person. I'm not super social, but I enjoy having a good time. I served a full time mission in Bogota Colombia, and I loved it. I love life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the way following Jesus Christ makes me feel. I was born and raised in the Mormon Religion. Since I was little, I was taught to follow Jesus Christ, and to keep his commandments. I never really doubted what I had been taught, but I never knew that it was true either. With the time I started meeting new people, and doing things with new friends who had different views, ideas, and customs. I started doubting if what I had been told was true. I started looking for answers, and I got ready to serve as a full time missionary for the Church. Honestly when I started my mission, I was still looking for those answers. all I knew was that doing what I was doing made me feel good, and that was enough to keep going. Finally after I had been out on my mission for a while, I decided that it was time to really know if all of this was true or not. I got up late one night after my companion had gone to bed. I went to another room, knelt down, and started talking to God. I asked questions, and waited for answers. They came. I felt a warmth inside of me, and an unexplainable peace. I just knew that these things were right. With the time I kept on talking to God. I grew closer and closer to him, and I started noticing more and more how happy I was. I was able to share the Gospel and these feelings with many others, and see miracles occur because of this new found trust that I had in God. I am home now, and I keep feeling the same way. I know without a doubt that Jesus Christ lives, and that he is my personal savior. I know that God really lives and that he listens to our prayers, and that he answers them. I really know that Joseph Smith saw God the father and Jesus Christ standing above him in the air, and that he spoke with them. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. This Knowledge saved my life, and made me who I am today, and that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by engaging in service to others. I always try to look for those who maybe need a friend, or just seem to be sad or lonely, and I try to pick them up and help them know that they are sons and daughters of God. I also have the opportunity to visit specific families once a month to help them with anything they need, and to share a Gospel message with them. This service brings real joy to my life.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Mike
We have a loving heavenly father who knows us perfectly and loves us, but sometimes we ask ourselves how we can come to know him. The answer is different for everyone, but for me it was like this. I wanted to know God. I really felt the desire to know if he was real or if he cared about me. I searched for a long time trying to find my answers. One night I just decided to ask him if he was real and if he loved me. I knelt down and prayed. But I didn't just say anything, the words were mine, and they came from my heart. I asked God if he was there and if he knew me. Upon asking these questions I felt a huge surge of peace and love in my heart, and I knew. You too can come to know that God loves you through prayer. Kneel down and ask him. There is no better way to come to know.  Show more Show less
