Hi I'm Cody

I was born in Phoenix, Arizona. I served a Mission in Brazil, and I am still growing up as a Mormon.

About Me

I like to read fantasy and science fiction books and to play video games. I graduated from High School in the top ten percent of my graduating class. I have earned an Associates Degree from the local community college. I served a Mission in northern Brazil. I learned so much there, possibly more than I did in school or college.

Why I am a Mormon

My mother was raised as a member, so I was as well. I have prayed about this church, about the Book of Mormon, and about the Prophet Joseph Smith Jr. I have a testimony that this church is true, and that the Prophet Joseph Smith Jr. did translate the golden plates into what is called the Book of Mormon.

How I live my faith

Every Sunday I help with preparation and blessing of Sacrament. I, and my companions, visit with and teach several families a message each month. I try to read from the Holy Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Pearl of Great Price, or the Doctrine of Covenants each day, and ponder the messages that I find.

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is similar to the Holy Bible, in that it is the word of God, but it contains the words of the Prophets in the American Continents, and the personal ministry of Jesus Christ to the inhabitants. Show more Show less

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

The prophet today is President Thomas S. Monson. He, and the other leaders of the church, are the messengers of God. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

We are Christians. The real name of the church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, not the Mormon Church, nor Joseph Smith's Church. This is our Lord and Savior's Church. So, yes, we are Christians. We believe in Christ. I believe in Christ. Show more Show less

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

No, the members of this Church do not practice polygamy. If any members were found to be practicing polygamy, then they are excommunicated, no longer considered a member of God's Church. In the past the Lord has given instructions that polygamy should be practiced for the raising of seed, to grow the membership. Examples of this include Abraham, Isaac, Moses, and David. The Lord also gave this instruction to the Saints during the late 1800s. However in 1890, President Wilford Woodruff received instruction that polygamy should be stopped, and so it has, even to this day. Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Mormons are not required to serve a mission. I served a mission, but no one told me "you have to serve a mission", it was my own choice to do so. Our Heavenly Father wants all of us to help preach the gospel to all of his children. Much of the work done is done with the help of missionaries in ages of 19-26, but others serve as well.
