Hi I'm John

I'm a husband, a father and an actor. Also, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up as a Protestant in a small, Texas city. A father of 9 kids "yours and mine," a professional actor and budding poet. Life has handed me many lessons already and it seems like there is no end to what we can learn on earth. I would say the number one lesson is, "Have we learned to love others?"

Why I am a Mormon

When I heard the missionaries explain the story of Joseph Smith's search for the true religion and his journey to help restore the Church of Jesus Christ to the earth, I just knew in my heart the story was true. When I read the Book of Mormon, I felt the power of that book in testifying of Jesus Christ. Bottom Line The Holy Ghost bore witness to my soul that the Church is true, so all that was left for me was to have the courage to join and stay involved, learning more all the time. This is a Church of service, so it's no longer, "what's in it for me?" but, "How can I serve?" We benefit personally from our service to others. It's a true "win-win."

How I live my faith

Being a Mormon does not insulate us from the challenges of life. The Savior said His Father "...sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust." Everyone on earth is subject to the trials and tribulations of life. A key benefit to living my faith is that the challenges can be seen from an eternal, or 'long-range' perspective, which can be a comfort when things get really tough.
