Hi I'm Doug

I'm a Mormon, Son, Friend, and Small Business Owner.

About Me

My name is Doug, and I'm a Mormon. I'm a recent graduate of Brigham Young University-Idaho. I've been living in the Orlando, Florida area since 2002 when I moved where with my mother and brother. I have worked in the Hospitality industry since I started working at 17. I served a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Oklahoma Tulsa Mission from 2007-2009. I love the theme parks in Orlando, I have passes to all of them. It is so much fun to be able to go catch the fireworks at Disney World whenever I want to. In addition to playing in the theme parks, I am in the process of starting my own business with friends from school and previous internships. I love working on it and hope to grow it one day to be able to provide internships and jobs to students and recent graduates.

Why I am a Mormon

While growing up, I was "raised" in the church, but when I turned 12 my family stopped going for quite a while. We moved often and didn't make an effort to find the local church and attend meetings. It wasn't until a young man in a ward down in Florida went out of his way to make me feel welcomed and pretty much stalked me until I came that I and my family became active. I am Mormon because I found it was a better way of life. I am happier when I live the gospel of Jesus Christ. I know it is true because I have tested it, I know that when I am living the gospel, life is better, not easier, but better.

How I live my faith

I have promised God that I would live my life the way I know he wants me to. I hold myself up to that standard. I do what I can to read the bible and other sacred books, to pray each day, and to serve others. I believe in not being a jerk, I believe in being nice to everyone and trying to make friends. I live my faith by keeping the commandments. I currently serve in my congregation as an Activities Leader. It is mine and another person's role in my church to put on all the activities we do. We have an activity every Monday night which we plan and prepare for. It has been such a blessing to have this calling in which my epic party planning skills are put to use. God really knows how to use his children.
