Hi I'm Brett

I never felt like I was anybody special, until I remembered who I was special to. I'm somebody again, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My parents were modern day Pioneers. They left the bustle of the East for the solace of the West, and found God there you could say. I grew up in a small town, worked on a small farm, played guitar and sang in a "more fun than good music" rock band. Then like everyone...I had to grow up, attended college, and was married to a wonderful woman who it almost seems was made just for me. We started a family and have two children, and a home in the suburbs. So typical, right? But marriage and family really is all its cracked up to be! I can't wait to come home every night to the arms of waiting souls who love me. What a blessing a family is. I work in the Information Technology field, and thrive in enjoyment of wholesome modern media. I still play guitar a little. It lets the romantic in me come out again to play. I like to read and even write a little. I've always loved the eternal battle of good vs. evil. I've always loved the adventure that is two people who are in love. I've always loved to teach my children and friends and anyone who will listen about the honor and respect that a woman deserves. I've always felt that man was born not only to care for and protect but also to honor and learn from women. To me, I am their self-proclaimed advocate. It is my life's mission. Life. Life to me really IS an adventure. My own adventure. What kind of character will I be in it?, I like to ask myself. Hero or villain? That is the choice before us all, is it not?

Why I am a Mormon

All I ever wanted was answers to my questions about what is this life thing all about. All I wanted was to know the story, you know? Be assured...Our lives are a great and grand story. I know this now! A story of great Sorrow, and greater Love. A story with one beginning, yet many renewals of that beginning. A story of organization, order, and authority. A story of an all-knowing God trying to usher in the events that will bring back the GREATEST NUMBER of His Children that He possibly can. I Finally Know the Story! This Mormon Church truly does know and teach the real story! And I get to choose my part in it, just like I always dreamed I could. I have never been so happy in all my life, each day knowing that I am not a nobody, that I am not a clod on the boot of society. I am a Christian explorer, I am on an adventure of the eternities, and with THIS Church, I will survive the evils, I will ascend the mount of my adversity, I will rescue the damsel in distress...and I will find the reward of all my life's searchings. My name is Brett, and I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I was raised to take an interest in the needs of others, and so my adult life has echoed this same thankful teaching. I enjoy serving as a leader in our congregation, helping to select the duties that each church-goer receives to contribute to the whole. Only so much is gained by consuming alone...we must contribute to be truly whole in our faith. It is amazing to see the gifts in others that God has given them. Gifts for teaching children, for teaching intellectuals, for visiting the sick, for communicating the Word with power. Gifts of faith, of leadership, or simple humility. I love seeing it in so many good people. All who come into the faith are given their way to serve one another.
