Hi I'm Shannon

I'm a writer. I'm an editor. I'm a musician. I'm a dancer. I'm a daughter. I'm a sister. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just graduated college, with a Bachelor's Degree in English/Professional Writing with a minor in Home Design. I grew up in a small town. The majority of the people I knew there were Mormon. I attended released-time seminary for the first three years of high school. I then moved to a much bigger city where most of the people were not members and attended early morning seminary for my senior year. I love the beach. I love to color. I've been playing the piano since I was ten and dancing since I was four. I like to make headbands out of buttons, beads, scraps of prom dress fabric, just about anything! I like to think I'm crafty and creative.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a member of the Church all of my life. I've always known this is the true church--never doubted it a day in my life. I follow the gospel of Jesus Christ because it brings joy and happiness to my life. I'd be totally lost without it and have no idea what my true purpose would be. I try my best to be the best example of Christ I can be. I make mistakes because I'm not perfect, but I do my best to change and make myself better.

How I live my faith

In order to be an example of Christ each day, I dress modestly, I'm kind to others, I'm honest, and I'm trustworthy. I attend church services every Sunday. I also go to a scripture study group each week at the Institute of Religion. I start and end each day with a conversation with my Father in Heaven through prayer. I try my hardest to pattern my daily life after that of Jesus Christ. I try to serve others whenever an opportunity arises.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

We were sent to earth to obtain our physical bodies and to have the opportunity to choose for ourselves what path we want to follow. This life is meant to test us, so that we can become our best selves.  Show more Show less

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Every living thing tells me that there is a God. No mortal man could have the power to create such unique and complex beings as humans. Each of us are entirely different in personality and interests, yet we are the same because God created each of us individually. Show more Show less
