Hi I'm Fabian

I grew up in Germany. I am Georgia Tech student and will soon be a heck of an engineer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband, married since 2007, a father of two children (about to be 3). I am working on my Masters in Aerospace Engineering and have a Bachelor in the same and a minor in Material Science Engineering. What little spare time I have, I love to spend with my family. My daughter loves beating me when we play on the Wii and my son is happiest when he can just climb all over me. I like to swim myself, and whenever the NBA is not on strike I enjoy watching a game or two.

Why I am a Mormon

My wife has been a member of the church all her life, naturally she wanted me to become baptized. I had contact with the missionaries literally for years before getting baptized. I never could find any fault in what I was being taught, but was for a long time unwilling to ask the lord earnestly if what I was taught was the truth. When I finally began to pray with a want to find out the truth, I got a very funny feeling in my stomach. I couldn't explain what this feeling was or where it came from. It felt like there was something else beating in my chest other than my heart. The next time the missionaries came over, we read Alma 32. Verse 21 jumped out at me because it described some of my previous troubles: "faith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things; therefore if ye have faith ye hope for things which are cnot seen, which are true." I was all ears after this. We continued to read and came to verse 28: "a seed may be planted in your cheart, behold, if it be a true seed, or a good seed, if ye do not cast it out by your dunbelief, that ye will resist the Spirit of the Lord, behold, it will begin to swell within your breasts; and when you feel these swelling motions, ye will begin to say within yourselves—It must needs be that this is a good seed, or that the word is good, for it beginneth to enlarge my soul; yea, it beginneth to enlighten my understanding, yea, it beginneth to be delicious to me." These swelling motions were exactly what I was experiencing. At that moment I knew that the gospel was true and that I wanted to be baptized. I had done this experiment as it is described in Alma 32 and it only left one conclusion. I later found out that the missionaries before this meeting really struggled to decide what they should teach me that day, it was not until they came to the house that they had the inspiration to read this particular chapter with me. Hearing this further confirmed my belief and the power of the Holy Spirit.

How I live my faith

Living my faith starts with my family, we have scripture study and family prayer every day. I try to be an example to those around me by doing the right thing and using the priesthood appropriately. I have also had the opportunity to participate in and organize multiple service projects in our community and also outside the state after national disasters. It is always a great feeling to be able to help people. Just seeing the smiles make any pain from physical labor go away.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Missionaries are a fountain of knowledge, they will seek inspiration to talk about an aspect of the gospel that is of particular importance to you. Be prepared to feel the spirit in your house very strongly anytime they come over. Show more Show less
