Hi I'm Daymon

I grew up in Ferron, UT. I work for Seminaries and Institutes of Religion. I now live in Michigan. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to build things, fix broken stuff, work with young people and hang out with my family. I love coming home and my kids actually being excited to see me! I also enjoy watching and participating in sports. I really feel blessed to be alive in this day and age and like to look on the bright side of things as much as I can. I've had a few trials just like everybody else but have learned so much from going through them. Life is good.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a Mormon in a strong family. I loved it but relied heavily on the strength of my parents' faith until I was in my late teen years. I had decided from an early age that I wanted to be a missionary some day like my dad was but as the time drew near to start preparing for this two years of service I knew that I had to know for myself if what I had learned all my life was true. I started reading the scriptures in earnest, particularly The Book of Mormon. I prayed to know if it was true. My answer did not come in the form of an angelic messenger or anything like that but it was clear and unmistakable. I knew then that I could testify of the truthfulness of the gospel to anybody and look them in the eye while I did it. Over the years, being Mormon had brought peace to my soul and a greater understanding of the things that important.

How I live my faith

Heavenly Father knows that I'm not perfect and so do I. I just try try to live my life the best I can everyday. Sometimes that's hard but I keep trying! Because I love my Heavenly Father I want to do what He wants me to do. With six kids, one serving his mission in Bulgaria, my wife and I keep plenty busy but we always make sure we schedule family time during the week. We have Family Night every Monday. We read scriptures every evening and every Friday night is known as Pizza/Movie night! I think I love that as much as the kids do. I have the opportunity to rub shoulders frequently with youth and young adults. I try to show them by precept and example how great life is when you are keeping the commandments and serving your fellow man.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

As a Mormon I believe that the purpose of life is to be happy and to work toward returning to my Heavenly Father someday with my family. Jesus Christ has made this possible for me through His grace. I am so grateful for Him and His Atonement. Because of His Atonement I can repent to become clean and rely on help from Him to do it.  Show more Show less

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

My son is serving a full-time 2 year mission in Bulgaria right now. He has saved for years to pay for this on his own. Many missionaries are supported financially by family members and/or friends. I am aware of some good people who have supported missionaries from their own pocket, often anonymously. In some cases, when other resources are not available, the church will fund the missionary. These church funds are typically provided by contributions from the general membership of the church.   Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about family?

We believe that the family is the most important unit in the world. We believe that if we participate in God's plan as He has outlined for us that we can be together forever. That's one of the reasons our temples are so important to us. We believe that in these holy places a family can be "sealed" a term we use to indicate a family being bound together forever. this is one of the most comforting and loving gifts that Heavenly Father has given us.
