Hi I'm Amanda

I grew up in Oklahoma. I love music, traveling, and learning languages. I'm a grad student in art history. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am working on a masters degree in art history. I've always liked history, art, and going to museums because I'm interested in cultures and their various traditions. I have been to Europe and Mexico and I hope to visit every continent at least once. I go to school in the mountains which is where I learned to ski. I like skiing but I don't go very often. I also enjoy hiking and going on walks, watching movies, and music. I took piano lessons for seven years and I love listening to music and discovering new bands/songs. I think music is one of the most beautiful aspects of this world.

Why I am a Mormon

I think that being a member of this church has brought a certain steadfastness to my life. We live in a chaotic and confusing world but the gospel of Jesus Christ has remained a constant source of peace and love for me. No matter what happens, I know that my Heavenly Father loves me, that He knows me personally, and that He is aware of my circumstances. I matter to Him, as do all of His children. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and that He loves all of us so much that He provided a way for us to return to live with our Father in Heaven. That gives me hope and it motivates me to keep going, even when times are difficult. I know I'm not perfect but in my darkest or loneliest hour, Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have always been there for me and will continue to be because They love me. They exemplify what it means to be a true Father, Brother, and Friend.

How I live my faith

I have had many opportunities to serve in my ward/community and I think that is an essential part of being a Mormon: service. I try to be aware of those around me and help where I can. Service is one the of the best ways to build love for people and make lasting friendships. I regularly attend church meetings so that I can learn how to better serve and love the people around me and to follow the example of Jesus Christ. I have also had a consistent interest in family history because of an inborn desire to know more about where I come from. I enjoy talking to members of my family about their life and childhood experiences and also doing research on my ancestors. As I do this work, I come to have a greater understanding of those who came before me as well as myself. I hope that it will benefit those who come after me. We believe that families can be together forever and I know that every individual matters to Heavenly Father. When I do family history, I see that importance because I realize how each of these individuals lived and breathed and experienced this world as I do. Everyone has their own life experiences but there is something poignant about remembering that fact and seeing how it has affected or blessed me. I hope that I can live a life that will bless and affect other people for good.
