Hi I'm Brett

I was born in Germany. I grew up in Colorado. I study Podiatric Medicine in Iowa. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married since June 2006 and have two wonderful children. I have a son, who is only a year old, and a daughter who is four. At the moment we are making our way through school, I am a Podiatry student, and we love our life together with what little we have as students living off student loans. I used to think life would be great once I'm done with school and have my own house, and a steady job, etc. but have learned it is better to not always be living in the future, but to enjoy the ride here in the present. We love the outdoors, I'm from Colorado and love just being in the mountains. I love to ski, hike, camp, fish, hunt, and just about anything else you can do outdoors.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because as I live the gospel teachings I know I have been blessed. Every good thing I have in my life has in one way or another come to me as a result of living gospel teachings from the Book of Mormon, Bible, and living prophets. In short I am a Mormon because being a Mormon genuinely makes me happy. Although I was raised a Mormon I have had times in my life when I have had to find out for myself that the Book of Mormon is scripture. I know from my own study and experiences that the Book of Mormon is a true book, and is truly God's words given to us. Joseph Smith was God's prophet, no other man except a prophet of God could bring forth a book as powerful as the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon for me has helped me to gain a personal testimony that Jesus Christ truly is the Son of God, our Savior and redeemer. Along with the Bible it testifies of all that Christ did for each of us so that we can return to live with God and be with our families for eternity.

How I live my faith

First and foremost I try to live my faith with everyday actions such as beginning and ending each day with a personal prayer, talking with Heavenly Father about what I am thankful for, what I am struggling with, my greatest hopes and fears, asking for help, or whatever I feel like saying. Knowing that God Loves and cares for me is one of the most important things I have in my life. Every day I also try to read and study my scriptures to learn more about God's teachings, and to spiritually strengthen myself to face whatever the day may bring. Each week I attend my church meetings where I learn from others and receive more spiritual strength. I have a couple of callings at church, one of which is to watch the 2 and 3 year old children in nursery during classes. During this time I can teach these little ones, and as I teach and take care of these little children I can see and feel Christ's love for them as well as see how much they love Jesus. I also serve as an assistant mission leader. With this calling I help the missionaries in their calling to go out and serve others by teaching them more about what we believe and why it makes us happy. Other than these things I just try to live a Christ like life in being honest in my associations with others and helpful wherever I can. I try my best to live according to the teachings of Jesus Christ.
