Hi I'm Phil

I am a father of three, a husband and a business man.

About Me

I'm married and have three children. One a teenager and two young boys . I am a business man and currently help individuals and businesses grow and find funding. I enjoy playing and watching tennis when I get chance and love to follow my football team Manchester United. Family time and days out are my favourite things of all!

Why I am a Mormon

20 years ago I married a very beautiful girl. She was brought up as a mormon in a good mormon family. She stopped going to church before we married. Our first child was born 3 years later, and we moved to a new town. One day the missionaries called at our door and invited my wife to come back to church. After a few visits and lessons she did so. My wife attended church and activities and took our now growing daughter with her. I played tennis every Sunday morning at the club where I had always attended as a boy. My wife would ask me regularly if I would get baptised. I always said 'no'. Many missionaries visited our home and taught me. When my wife asked her usual question I always said, 'no'. The missionaries brought their mission president. He also left our home a frustrated man! The Bishop visited and invited me to come to the Stake Centre and listen to the voice of the visiting Prophet, a certain President Gordon B Hinckley. I accepted his invitation and enjoyed the experience. I attended a 'fast and testimony' meeting with my family one Sunday following an invitation from my wife. It was an interesting experience! Then my wife stood up at the pulpit and began to talk. She bore her testimony of the truth of the Church and of the Saviour Jesus Christ. I had never had a feeling like that before in my life. I was hit full on by the Spirit of the Lord. The next time my wife asked if I would get baptised I automatically said 'yes' without hesitation or a moments thought! Our family is now sealed together for time and all eternity and we have been blessed with two more additions to our family.

How I live my faith

Since I joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints about 10 years ago I have held several different and rewarding positions. I have helped people to improve their education and qualifications and find and change careers. I have taught the Youth of the Church about the principles of the Gospel and the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. I have also been involved in the administration of the Church in our area, planning and helping to organise events such as Open Days, Christmas Carol Concerts and Festivals open to our Church Members and the general public.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Phil
The Word of Wisdom is a law from God that we follow. It helps me to keep my body and mind healthy and strong by abstaining from the use of tobacco, alcohol, tea and coffee and illegal drugs. I believe that i receive both physical and spiritual blessings when I follow the Word of Wisdom. Show more Show less
